  • Patent number: 7255902
Abstract: A paper-like multilayer barrier film comprises a filled polypropylene layer and several unfilled layers. The filled layer contains 40-75% by wt. of inorganic fillers, forms one of the two outside layers of the film, and has a thickness of at least 40 ?m. The unfilled layers include a barrier layer, a sealing layer, and optionally at least one adhesive layer. The ratio of the total thickness of the unfilled layers to the thickness of the filled layer is in the range of 1:8 to 1:1.2.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 8, 2001
Date of Patent: August 14, 2007
    Assignee: Convenience Food Systems B.V.
Inventors: Ulrich Reiners, Erik Järund, Leif Linné

Abstract: A paper-like multilayer barrier film comprises a filled polypropylene layer and several unfilled layers. The filled layer contains 40-75% by wt. of inorganic fillers, forms one of the two outside layers of the film, and has a thickness of 340 m. The unfilled layers include a barrier layer, a sealing layer, and optionally at least one adhesive layer. The ratio of the total thickness of the unfilled layers to the thickness of the filled layer is in the range of 1:8 to 1: 1.2.

  • Patent number: 4684018
Abstract: A thermometer sheath in a multiple pack comprising a continuous support foil (1) of paper on which a lower and an upper plastic foil (2 and 3) are placed, whereby the plastic foils (2, 3) are welded together and the lower plastic foil (2) is releasably attached to the support foil (1) by means of a heat sealing line (4), which delimits a number of case-shaped thermometer sheaths closed at one end, which are detachable from each other and from the support foil (1), and whereby the lower plastic foil (2) is longer than the upper plastic foil (3) thus that a flap is formed at the case orifice. A stiffening strip (5) of plastic material is positioned between the upper and the lower plastic foil (2 and 3) transversally to the longitudinal direction of the case and attached to said plastic foils (2, 3) by two opposite parts (4',4") of the heat-sealing line (4), whereby the stiffening strip (5) extends beyond the end of the upper plastic foil (3).

  • Patent number: 4512472
Abstract: Suction tube packages comprising suction tubes arranged in succession, which are placed between two weblike plastic strips sealed to one another, are used for the application of suction tubes to packing containers for e.g. juice or milk. The weblike suction tube packages are provided with transverse cuts between each individual suction tube envelope which facilitate the separation of individual envelopes on application of the suction tube envelopes to the packing container, but increase the risk of unintentional detachment of envelopes from the suction tube package. This risk can be appreciably reduced if the suction tube package is provided between, or on the outside of, the two long strips sealed to one another with two substantially parallel tapes (11,12) situated at some distance from one another.

  • Patent number: 4345415
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention protective envelopes for suction tubes or drinking straws as well as the tapes joining them are manufactured at the same time and of the same material. The suction tubes are placed with equal intervals transversely between two thermoplastic webs, whereupon these webs are sealed to each other around the suction tubes. At the same time the webs are punched or cut so that individual suction tube envelopes are obtained which are mutually connected by means of straps extending between the envelopes. In this manner all handling of separate wrapped suction tubes is avoided, so that the suction tube band can be manufactured with appreciably greater precision. The invention relates to the method of manufacture as well as to a machine for its realization and the finished suction tube band.
