    Abstract: The invention provides a system and process for integrating hierarchical searching with parametric searching at each level of the hierarchy depending on the intended use. Specifically, the invention provides a system and method for inputting or selecting a product or compound name; determining one or more uses of the product or compound and displaying a list of such use or uses; selecting a use of the product; generating a parameter selection site based on the selected use; inputting parameters; and generating a list of products that meet the selected parameters. The product or compound name can be selected at any level in the hierarchy. For example, the name can be selected at the products leaf or within the products ontology. The database of products and compounds is virtually limitless in that additional products may always be added to the database.
