  • Patent number: 4613742
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cutting imaging sheets including a layer of photohardenable microcapsules without discoloring along the cut edge wherein the line along which the sheet is to be cut is exposed to actinic radiation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 11, 1985
Date of Patent: September 23, 1986
    Assignee: The Mead Corporation
Inventors: Erik K. Nelson, Donald L. Head
  • Patent number: 4592986
Abstract: Imaging sheets having a coating containing chromogenic material and a photosensitive composition with at least the photosensitive composition encapsulated in rupturable microcapsules as an internal phase are processed by contacting the imaging sheets with a traveling pile formed by magnetically attractable free particles on a magnetic brush to rupture the microcapsules coating the surfaces of the imaging sheets by means of a soft pliable brushing action of the pile against the imaging sheets.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 1985
Date of Patent: June 3, 1986
    Assignee: The Mead Corporation
Inventors: Erik K. Nelson, Joseph G. O'Connor, David A. Boyer, Edward J. Saccocio
  • Patent number: 4466735
Abstract: A half tone screen of a graphic camera is uniformly exposed by a pinhole light projector positioned off axis with respect to the main optical projection axis. A light diffuser is positioned intermediate a light source and the pinhole has a variable density light attenuator pattern consisting of a plurality of circular lines for attenuating the light passing through the diffuser and aperture in a manner to produce uniform illumination of the half tone screen.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 29, 1982
Date of Patent: August 21, 1984
    Assignee: Itek Corporation
    Inventor: Erik K. Nelson
  • Patent number: 4387985
Abstract: A unique light attenuator is positioned between a bank of lamps and the underside of a light diffuser which supports a subject to be photographed in a process camera, such light attenuator comprising a first circular pattern of constant width, constant density lines and a second superimposed pattern of straight lines which compensate for nonuniformity of illumination of the subject.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 5, 1981
Date of Patent: June 14, 1983
    Assignee: Itek Corporation
Inventors: Irving J. Magin, Erik K. Nelson
