    Abstract: Systems and methods for a target locator device are provided. In one embodiment, a target locator device comprises: a high performance gyroscope; an inertial measurement unit including an accelerometer triad and a gyroscope triad; a rangefinder; a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver; and a processor coupled to the high performance gyroscope, the inertial measurement unit, the rangefinder and the GNSS receiver. The processor derives an alignment heading from a heading measurement provided by the high performance gyroscope. The processor calculates a heading to a target based on a deviation from the alignment heading as measured from a heading and elevation measurement determined from the inertial measurement unit.

The method also expresses precision requirements and expressiveness requirements as inequalities and merit functions. A global constraint and optimizer tool is used to find ranges for algorithmic variables based on the inequalities and the merit functions. The use of constraint equation solving and optimization finds optimal algorithmic ranges that provide overflow-free arithmetic as well as optimal expressiveness and precision.

The phase of the sinusoidal angular rate as detected by a phase-locked loop or correlator is used to determine the local vertical orientation. This invention may be used to align the inertial navigation system in spinning projectiles in ballistic trajectories, which can include artillery shells, satellites or underwater torpedoes.

    Abstract: A FOS is provided for electrically connecting a data transfer head with a PCCA. The FOS comprises a polymeric layer supporting an electrical trace. The electrical trace comprises an uninsulated pad surface configured for electrically engaging a solder interconnect of the PCCA. The polymeric layer comprises a continuous portion covering the pad and opposing the pad surface. A method is provided comprising providing the FOS comprising the electrical trace and the polymeric covering, contactingly engaging the pad surface portion of the trace with the solder interconnect portion of the PCCA, and conducting heat through the polymeric covering to reflow the solder interconnect, thereby electrically connecting the FOS to the PCCA.
