The base structure has an auxiliary port system with the number of primary ports being equal to the number of auxiliary ports. The primary ports and auxiliary ports include adapters configured to connect a payload to the OTV. The order of ports around the base structure alternates between primary and auxiliary ports. The base structure contains a forward port capable of holding more weight than can be held by the primary and auxiliary ports. The base structure contains a rear port capable of connecting the OTV to a launch vehicle (LV).
