  • Patent number: 8587514
Abstract: A device for controlling a click command controlled external unit including a portable head mounted frame, a click command detector mounted on the head mounted frame and adapted to sense tension changes of at least one muscle in the face of the user in order to detect when the user provide a click command, and a click command transmitter adapted to transmit information about detected click commands to the external unit.

  • Patent number: 5828875
Abstract: Loops in program code are avoided by generating instructions for controlling a processor. A first template instruction is stored, and a predetermined number of instructions may be generated, wherein each generated instruction is based on the first template instruction. The processor may be alternatively supplied with the generated instructions or with instructions received from an alternative instruction source. A substitute address field may be stored, and the step of generating each instruction may include substituting the substitute address field in place of an address field in the first template instruction. The stored substitute address field may be adjusted after generating each instruction. The step substituting the substitute address field in place of an address field in the first template instruction may be performed only if a substitution control signal is asserted.

  • Patent number: 4780713
Abstract: The invention concerns a display device for displaying graphical information, in the form of point patterns forming symbols of an arbitrary size and shape, each symbol being allocated a unique symbol code, as well as in the form of non-symbolic information, on a display unit (8) of a raster-scan type and comprising a symbol memory (13) including information on the point pattern of the available symbols, a pixel oriented image memory (2) including all graphical information to be displayed on the display unit, and a processor (1), by which the symbols incorporated in the image are read into the image memory by processing the information that is stored in the symbol memory. What is characteristic of the invention is a pixel oriented auxiliary memory (3) with the same pixel division as the image memory, each symbol in the image memory (2) corresponding to a pixel in the auxiliary memory, which pixel defines the symbol position in the image.

  • Patent number: 4591850
Abstract: A visual (or video) display unit of the raster scan type has a symbol memory, where the dot patterns of the available symbols are stored, and a refresh memory, where information is stored which identifies the symbols present on the image in question and their positions on the image. An auxiliary memory constitutes a simplified reproduction of the refresh memory, for example with 1 bit for each word in the refresh memory. For each symbol on the image in question, the auxiliary memory defines, on the one hand, the element in the image which is written first during generation of the image, and on the other hand a definition element. In the place in the refresh memory, which corresponds to the position of the definition element in the image, there is stored a code which identifies the symbol.

  • Patent number: 4392130
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for generating and presenting an image on a visual display unit or some other display member. The image is composed, for example by an operator via a keyboard, of a plurality of symbols defined in advance in a symbol memory, which are placed on the image adjacent to each other. Each symbol is associated with at least one predetermined entry point and at least one predetermined exit point. When creating the image, a symbol is placed so that an entry point of that symbol is located immediately adjacent to an exit point of a previously displayed symbol.

  • Patent number: 4131883
Abstract: A character generator for a raster scanned display includes a virtual memory, a character memory, and character memory addressing circuitry. Character identifying codes are received by the virtual memory which produces the addresses in the character memory for the data for the first scanned line of each character. The character data for each scanned data line of a character contains sequential words containing N bits of video data to be displayed and two link bits. The link bits apprise the character memory addressing circuitry if subsequent words for that character appear on that scanned data line and if additional data lines for that character will have to be read on subsequent scans of the raster display frame.
