    Abstract: The invention relates to an aqueous paper coating composition. Such a composition, applied to paper, is suitable in particular for printing of the paper. The paper coating composition contains between 0.01 and 100 wt. % of a highly branched polyester amide. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of a composition according to the invention that also contains SMA in which an aqueous solution of SMA and a highly branched polyester amide is heated to at least 50° C. The invention further relates to paper coated with a composition according to the invention.
