  • Publication number: 20100122036
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for improving speculation success in processors. In some embodiments, the method may include executing a plurality of threads of program code, the plurality of threads comprising a first speculative load request, setting an indicator bit corresponding to a cache line in response to the first speculative load request, and in the event that a second speculative load request from the plurality of threads refers to a first cache line with the indicator bit set, determining if a second cache line is available.

  • Publication number: 20100058722
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a fabric filter system, which may be used for removing particulate matter from a gas, such as a combustion process gas. The filter system includes a fabric filter (3) which is placed in a filter compartment. From the filter, gas flows via a filter plenary space (5) to an outlet duct (7), where the gas exits. A flow control device controls the amount of air exiting through the outlet duct. The flow control device comprises a louver-type damper (17). This provides reliable and efficient control of the gas flow. A collar (21), connecting the plenary space (5) with the outlet duct (7), improves the gas flow into the duct.

  • Patent number: 7534300
Abstract: A method of designing and the resulting thermally stable heated coating die apparatus, the die apparatus including a die having a die geometry and a heating system with heaters and temperature sensors. The method and resultant apparatus provides minimized temperature gradients, flat die lip faces in a die to roll plane and a flat die in a plane perpendicular to die flat lip faces and parallel to substrate width. The method optimizes simultaneously: die geometry, placement of the heaters, placement of temperature sensors, and shielding from operating conditions, using heat transfer and structural numerical modeling and statistical analysis while considering die functionality characteristics, minimum increment of temperature measurement and control accuracy related to minimum acceptable deviation from flatness, coating die material of construction relative to thermo-structural material properties, and desirable coating die material properties.

  • Patent number: 7409096
Abstract: In a process and unit for gradual decoding, archiving and graphic display of progressively decoded image data, time intervals between the time points of consecutive decoding steps, during which network users receive ever more refined image resolution when downloading image data from a central network server to the client computer using transferred and decoded partial data quantities ?Li as preview images, are generated with abbreviated time spans that are optimized with respect to minimization of system usage by the decoding system. For this purpose, the receiving data rates for transfer of the individual partial data quantities, which are taken into account through improvements generated by the individual decoding steps of a quality metric showing the degree of image resolution and the temporary usage of the decoding system upon determination of the decoding time points.

  • Patent number: 6758160
Abstract: This invention relates to a hydrant locator that facilitates the location of a hydrant by firefighters, particularly in an emergency. The low profile device wraps around the hydrant cylinder for mounting purposes and a switch in an emergency vehicle sets off strobe lights on the device upon activation to alert firefighters to the hydrant location. The locator device comprises a plurality of solar powered strobe lights that are strapped about the hydrant alternating with solar panels. A locked latch secures the locator belt of strobe lights and solar panels to the hydrant. A shatterproof shield is mounted over the strobe lights and solar panels. A receiver is also mounted within the locator to activate the strobe lights upon receipt of a remote signal. A remote switch located in an emergency vehicle is coupled to a transmitter to activate only those hydrant locators within a given range of approximately 1500 feet. The switch can activate a different color strobe light to indicate the closeness of the hydrant.

  • Patent number: 6577770
Abstract: The invention can be used in a wide range of fields including space applications, for observing, measuring and surveying the earth surface with satellites, civilian and military aeronautics, for x-ray images and security applications, as well as in general industrial image processing and image generation applications. The invention uses the advantages of the wavelet transformation, a mathematical mapping between spaces, and in particular the advantages of interpolating wavelets, to improve the transmission of endless, continually growing, non-bordered images using a small amount of memory. The invented procedure and the proposed implementation of the procedure describe a complete wavelet transformation system which is used as a decorrelating transformation for digital or digitized input data. The invention also covers an inverse wavelet transformation system for reverting the wavelet transformation system operations.

  • Patent number: 6498618
Abstract: An apparatus for merging real and virtual images in which points in three dimensions of an actual scene are obtained and selected in a random fashion and in a number sufficient to track the movement of the three dimensional scene relative to an observer wearing the apparatus. Updating of selected points occurs responsive to movement of a video camera pair observing the actual scene. The position and orientation of the unit housing the video camera pair is utilized to properly merge a generated virtual image with the real image. Selection of points and orientation of the unit relative to a three dimensional real image are obtained in real time. Microprocessor-based apparatus is utilized to perform the method of the invention.
