  • Publication number: 20080188790
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for sucking liquid, in particular blood, from a collecting location, through a suction conduit (4) having an inlet end (5), wherein a liquid additive, in particular a CPD solution, is fed through an outlet end (15) of a conduit for additives (13). The inlet end (5) and the outlet end (15) being fixated in respect of and close to each other such that the additive is fed out to the collection location (16) close to the inlet end (5) and is mixed with the liquid that is being sucked before it enters the inlet end. A dosage unit (12) is controlled in dependence of the sub pressure in the suction conduit (4) for to regulate the feeding of the additive in dependence of the quantity of liquid being sucked.

  • Patent number: 5731211
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for analyzing a liquid sample, particularly a sample of blood, in different concentrations, a portion of a sample contained in a sample receptacle (P) and diluted to a predetermined concentration is again diluted to a predetermined lower concentration when it is transferred to a receiving vessel (20) in which the sample is analyzed in respect of one or more sample parameters. The transfer is effected by a pipette (17) which in a first position (B) thereof is brought together with the sample receptacle (P) for aspiration of said sample portion and which is then shifted to a second position (A) for dispensing the portion and liquid diluent to the receiving vessel (20).

  • Patent number: 4746491
Abstract: An apparatus and method for serial dilution of liquid samples comprises a power-driven measuring valve having a rotatably mounted valve body provided with a single calibrated measuring passageway. During a dilution cycle the measuring passageway in different rotational positions of the valve body successively isolates a measured volume of a sample to be diluted and an equal volume of a first diluted solution of the sample which has been prepared by mixing the isolated undiluted volume of the sample with a measured volume of diluent. In a valve body position between said different rotational positions the measuring passageway is connected to form part of a rinsing flow system.

  • Patent number: 4617009
Abstract: Centrifugal batch separation of blood in a closed collapsible container is carried out by placing the container in a rigid casing in which the container is divided into two or more sections in that the casing constricts the container at one or more predetermined positions between the ends of the container. The casing with the container therein is then centrifuged, a gap-like passage between the container sections permitting rearrangement of the contents of the container so that each section will accommodate a blood fraction. After the centrifugation the fractions are isolated from each other. The volume of the cavity within the casing accommodating the radially outermost container section is matched with the hematocrit and the total blood volume by means of filler bodies.
