  • Patent number: 6772215
Abstract: A method for minimizing feedback responses in an ARQ protocol is disclosed, whereby different mechanisms can be used to indicate erroneous D-PDUs and construct S-PDUs. The S-PDUs are constructed so as to optimize performance in accordance with certain criteria. One such criterion used is to minimize the size of the S-PDUs. A second such criterion used is to maximize the number of SNs included in an S-PDU of limited size.

  • Patent number: 6691273
Abstract: A method of error correction during a soft handover process is disclosed wherein a radio network control node receives a plurality of versions of the same data block. Two or more of the received versions of the data block are combined to determine a substantially error corrected version of the data block. The resulting substantially error corrected version of the data block may then be forwarded to to other network nodes.

Date of Patent: February 10, 2004

  • Patent number: 6131030
Abstract: A system network and method improving handovers, particularly for reducing the amount of inter-cellular transfer information stored in base station controllers or radio network controllers, is disclosed. Instead of storing routing information for every possible inter-cellular handover at each control node, signaling network technology is employed to effectuate communication of all relevant inter-cellular handover information between all of the control nodes, thereby coordinating routing information transference across a distributed system.
