  • Publication number: 20130046689
Abstract: A system includes a memory for storing user account information and mobile device information; and a processor. The processor receives a request for a transaction. The request includes a user identifier, a transaction amount, and a transaction recipient identifier. The processor further generates a transaction code. The processor further communicates the transaction code to a user device. The processor further receives, from a mobile device, a transaction confirmation message, wherein the user device and the mobile device are separate devices. The transaction confirmation message includes a confirmation of the request for the transaction and a unique identifier of the mobile device. The processor further compares the unique identifier of the mobile device with the stored mobile device information. In response to a determination that the unique identifier of the mobile device matches the stored mobile device information, the processor further allows the transaction to occur.

  • Patent number: 7460856
Abstract: A method and apparatus for switching access between mobile networks for a mobile terminal comprising a first and a second radio device capable of communication with a first and a second mobile network, respectively. The second mobile network has priority over the first mobile network. A first connection is authorised and established between the firstradio device and the first mobile network. When it is detected that the mobile terminal moves into a coverage area of the second mobile network, a second connection is authorised and established between the second radio device and the second mobile network based on the authorising made for the first connection with the first mobile network. Both connections can then rely on the authorisation of the first connection.

  • Patent number: 6352795
Abstract: This invention concerns a method of increasing the available amount of acid at PAM and NAM in lead battery electrodes and still retain a short distance between the electrode surfaces. With mechanical support of PAM (for example in tubular batteries) in spite of low PAM densities it is possible to almost completely prevent the formation of mud. Spaces for acid should therefore be mechanically strong and supporting in order to retain unchanged PAM volume. In order to prevent that the porous bodies are filled with lead powder, lead sulphate or other components during manufacture, they may be impregnated with a filler material such as for example plastic or wax which is removed after forming the electrodes or after any other suitable process. The filler material may also be an inorganic salt which dissolves only at filling with acid leaving a desired porosity.

  • Patent number: 6117583
Abstract: The invention concerns a lead-acid battery having all the surfaces of all the electrodes under high pressure and their circumferences kept unchanged by support from mechanically rigid cell walls such that only the thickness of the electrodes is allowed to expand under strong resilient load during the discharge and return during charge. The pressure is 0.49-10.sup.5 -9.81-10.sup.5 Pa (0.5-10 kp/cm.sup.2), and may be obtained by separators or by springs applied to the outer sides of the cell container and may be changed for increased or decreased capacity. The construction of the tubular battery design, prevents material losses due to sludging and a long working life is obtained, since also a totally corroded lead conductor under high pressure may function as a current conductor. The rigid outer containers also allow high liquid pressure and thus a high oxygen solubility and oxygen recombination for sealed cells.

  • Patent number: 5960392
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for adapting data models in adaptive speaker verification systems or similar adaptive systems using models based on data collected from a person, system or process during a certain time period. A plurality of different model units are used in the same speaker verification system. The verification system is put into operation using a simple model unit requiring a small amount of speech data. During the use, more speech data is collected continuously. This speech data is used to further train either (1) only more complex model units, or (2) both the simple model unit already in operation and the more complex model units. At suitable intervals, a comparison is made of the performance capacities of the model units. Once a more complex model unit yields a more reliable verification result, the more complex model unit is assigned to take over the verification in the operating situation. The more complex model unit may be put into operation either instantaneously or gradually, e.g.

  • Patent number: 5510211
Abstract: In a bipolar acid containing battery comprising at least two cell units being divided by a dimensional stable electroconductive wall (5) which constitutes or supports the positive (6) and the negative (7) electrodes in two adjacent cells, said wall is comprised of non-electroconductive dimensional stable porous material (10) having pores (8) passing from its positive to its negative side and having said pores (8) filled with electroconductive lead, a lead alloy or a similar metal or alloy, making the electrical contact between two adjacent cell units. By the porous material (10) being non-electroconductive and dimensional stable the transformation of the metal and thus the volume increase of the metal or the alloy during working conditions are restricted, whereby the wall (5) is protected from through corrosion. The invention also concerns a method of producing an electroconductive dimensional stable partition wall (5) for a bipolar battery.

  • Patent number: 4807253
Abstract: There are described apparatus and methods for producing time-varying of trellis-coded modulations, specifically, time-varying trellis-coded phase-shift-keying, to facilitate carrier phase recovery when the signal has been exposed to extraneous phase variations and noise.Typically, eight-phase-shift-keying (8-PSK), with rate 2/3 convolutional coding, is followed on a repetitive basis by one or two formats of four-phase-shift-keying (4-PSK), which formats are chosen to ease phase synchronization and to conserve the use of bandwidth and not to worsen the bit error probability while reducing the probability of synchronization loss and the length of error bursts or "random walks".The variation of the modulation formats could be:(1) 8-PSK (rate 2/3) followed by 4-PSK,(2) 8-PSK (rate 2/3) followed by 4-PSK (preferred format) and then 4-PSK (secondary format) or,(3) any of many other periodic formats of 8-PSK and 4-PSK sections.

  • Patent number: 4797879
Abstract: The present invention relates to packet switched interconnection protocols for use in high-speed optical Star-configured Local Area Networks (LANs). In the present Star LAN, a plurality of N+1 wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) channels are provided for use by M transceivers connected to the Star coupler, where preferably M>N. N of the N+1 WDM channels are used for transmission of data packets, and the remaining WDM channel is used by all transceivers for transmitting control packets only. In the present protocols, a transmitter in an active transceiver first send a control packet over the control channel using a first protocol such as, for example, ALOHA or CSMA. The control packet includes (1) the transmitter's unique address, (2) the destined receiver's address, and (3) the address of the data channel to be used in transmitting the associated data packet.

  • Patent number: 4701909
Abstract: The present invention relates to a collision detection technique for an optical Star LAN using CSMA/CD. The present technique is implemented by preferably adding two or more fixed Hamming weight sequences, e.g., a fixed even or odd number of 1's in each unique cyclic error correcting code word, to the preamble section of each packet of information to be transmitted. These collision detection sequences have a length which is beyond the vulnerable time period of the CSMA/CD protocol (maximum round-trip propagation delay for each packet) by at least one code word length in order to prevent any misdetection, or false detection, of a collision. Each receiver in the listening period, looks for a code pattern with a fixed Hamming weight. When code patterns collide, the Hamming weight of the resulting code word in the collision period will exceed the nominal sequence weight (will include more 1's than the fixed Hamming weight) and a sequence weight violation is detected.
