  • Publication number: 20100277446
Abstract: A display has reduced moire interference. The display has a backplane with a regular array of pixels and a frontplane with a regular array of cells. The backplane and frontplane are laminated together. The width of the distribution of aperture (the total inner cell area above an active pixel area divided by total pixel area) over the display is reduced. Sinusoidally curved walls or other curved pixel edges may be used in the frontplane or backplane to control the distribution.

  • Publication number: 20100142029
Abstract: The invention relates to a flexible display (40) comprising a frontplane (42), positioned on top of the backplane (44). Preferably, the frontplane (44) is laminated on top of the backplane (42). The flexible display (40) further comprises a bonding area (48). In accordance to the invention the frontplane (44) extends over an area (46) substantially corresponding with the bonding area (48). Preferably, the frontplane in the region of the bonding are (48) is provided with spacings (47) for arrangement of suitable electrical contacts for enabling a connectivity to the array of electronic pixels and/or to the array of electro-optic elements. The spacings (47) may be of any suitable shape being arranged individually or being interconnected with each-other to form a sole spacing on top of the bonding area (48).

  • Publication number: 20100134873
Abstract: The invention relates to a device (35) comprising a multilayered structure (35a) with a first portion and a second portion wherein the first portion is conceived to be rolled about a first roller (38), said device comprising a second roller (39) for receiving the second portion for at least partially counteracting the effects of mechanical strain induced in the multilayered structure upon said rolling. The first roller (38) is rotated in a first direction, whereby the second roller (39) is rotated in a second direction. Preferably, the diameters of the first roller (38) and the second roller (39) are equal. Alternatively, the edge portions A, B of the multilayer structure (34a) are suitably interconnected by stoppers (33a, 33b) for preventing creeping.

  • Publication number: 20090000729
Abstract: An electro-optic display is produced using a sub-assembly comprising a front sheet, an electro-optic medium; and an adhesive layer. An aperture is formed through the adhesive layer where the adhesive layer is not covered by the electro-optic medium, and the sub-assembly is adhered to a backplane having a co-operating member with the aperture engaged with a co-operating member, thus locating the sub-assembly relative to the backplane. In another form of electro-optic display, a chip extends through an aperture in the electro-optic medium and adhesive layer. In a third form, the aforementioned sub-assembly is secured to a backplane and then a cut is made through both backplane and sub-assembly to provide an aligned edge.
