  • Patent number: 8033600
Abstract: A seat system has separate air bladders in the seat bottom and seat back. The seat bottom bladder is in fluid communication with the seat back bladder through a plurality of rigid interconnecting tubes, and valves in the tubes or orifice size can control flow rate of air exchange between the seat bottom bladder and the seat back bladder. A panel of resilient, compressible open cell foam extends in each of the seat bottom bladder and the seat back bladder. Through-holes in the foam panel permit accelerated air evacuation to the other bladder when the seat withstands a significant shock event. The vibration and shock attenuation characteristics of the seat are jointly provided by the panel spring force and the bladder air pressure.

  • Patent number: 8020388
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for increasing the efficiency of a combined gas/steam power station (10) with integrated gasification combined cycle. Said power station comprises a gas turbine compressor (14) and an air-separation unit (18) having a defined working pressure. Compressed air is removed from the gas turbine compressor (14) at a pressure level that is adapted to the working pressure of the air-separation unit (18). The removed air is then supplied to the air-separation unit (18) where the air is broken down into its individual constituents, especially oxygen and nitrogen. The nitrogen produced in the air-separation unit (18) is removed from the air-separation unit and at least a part of the removed nitrogen quantity is used as a coolant in the gas/steam power station in order to improve its efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20110083443
Abstract: A device and a method for using overcapacities in the power grid is provided. In case of an oversupply of energy, the energy is transferred to a thermal storage device directly via a heating element and in the discharge case of the thermal storage device the heat is removed from the thermal storage device and made available to a thermodynamic cycle whereby electrical energy is produced. The heat from the thermal storage device is used to preheat air in an air feed line to a combustion chamber, or fuel is pre-heated using heat from the thermal storage device.

  • Publication number: 20110047150
Abstract: Described herein are methods and systems for providing corrective maintenance using global knowledge sharing. A method to provide corrective maintenance with a CM system includes performing a query to generate a ranking of fixable causes based on factors (e.g., symptoms, configuration, test). The ranking may be determined based on a fixable cause percent match with the factors. The ranking of fixable causes may be associated with one or more solutions for each fixable cause. The ranking can be updated based on performing tests or solutions.

  • Publication number: 20100329415
Abstract: A method of inspecting a quality of a blade, especially of a wind-turbine-blade, is provided. At least parts of the blade are inspected by a computer-tomography-method using radiation. The radiation is directed through the blade for the inspection. A transmitter sends the radiation through the blade. A receiver receives the sent radiation after its passing through the blade. The position of the transmitter, of the receiver and/or of the blade is changed in relation to each other in order to perform the inspection of the blade.

  • Publication number: 20100253272
Abstract: The electrical machine includes a movable part and a static part. The movable part rotates in relation to the static part around a dedicated rotary axis. An air-gap is located between the rotating and the static part of the machine. A device is positioned and used to measure the spacing of the air-gap. The static part and/or the movable part is coupled with an actuating-unit, which changes the relative position of the static part in relation to the movable part to adjust the spacing of the air-gap.

  • Publication number: 20100156116
Abstract: An arrangement to stabilize a power-grid is provided. The grid is coupled with a power-system via an inverter-system, while the power-system feeds in electrical power into the grid when needed. A synchronous generator is connected with the grid. The synchronous generator is designed to compensate sudden load-changes of the grid.

  • Patent number: 6349221
Abstract: A portable device, for example a portable phone (1), has a display comprising a first element (2) and a second element (3). The first element (2) is adapted to display information, and the second element (3) is an electrochromic element, which at least partially covers the first element (2). This has the advantage of allowing the electrochromic window to enhance the design flexibility of the display. In addition, the display enables power consumption to be saved in a portable device having such first and second elements, by switching off the first display element when the device is placed into a standby mode, and switching the electrochromic element into a non-transparent state to indicate that it is in said standby mode. The device may also be used with other portable devices such as a personal organizer or laptop computer.
