The transmission device includes a first software processor that performs, if a first information portion has been updated, software processing on the first information portion, a first hardware processor that performs hardware processing on a second information portion, a generation unit that generates a beacon signal, and a transmitter that transmits the generated beacon signal. The reception device includes a reception unit that receives the beacon signal, a separator that separates the first information portion from the second information portion, a second hardware processor that performs hardware processing on the separated second information portion, a determination unit that determines whether the separated first information portion has been updated, and a second software processor that performs, if the first information portion has been updated, software processing on the updated first information portion.

    Abstract: A communication apparatus that performs data transmission on a medium according to the packet switching system includes an upper-layer processing unit that performs processing of data to be transmitted, a Phy processing unit that manages an operation of physical access to the medium, and a media-access-control processing unit that generates a transmission packet, instructs the Phy processing unit to transmit the packet, and performs control for access to the medium. The media-access-control processing unit includes a buffer memory, a transmission buffer list, and a header-information generating unit. The media-access-control processing unit instructs the Phy processing unit to transmit a preamble signal, starts generation processing for the header information by the header-information generating means, and instructs the Phy processing unit to transmit, before the transmission of the preamble signal is finished, the header information generated.

    Abstract: In order to reduce latency until when processing in accordance with each piece of header information included in a header is started, a communication device is provided with a header decoding portion (108) that decodes a received header; a post-decoding header output portion (112) that outputs the decoded header; a header error detection portion (106) that uses a header error-detecting code to check whether there are any errors in the header; and a post-decoding header update portion (110) that, if an error is detected in the header by the header error detection portion, updates the decoded header output by the post-decoding header output portion. The header decoding portion starts header decoding before the header error detection portion checks whether there are any errors in the header, and the post-decoding header output portion starts to output the decoded header before the header error detection portion checks for errors.
