  • Publication number: 20140204027
Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable medium are disclosed for facilitating user interaction with a mobile device. A first control function is associated with a first user control located in a first location on the bezel of a mobile device to establish a target operational position for any user control that is subsequently associated with the control function. When the orientation of the mobile device is changed, the first control function is associated with a second user control, located in a second location on the bezel, to maintain the target operational position of the user control associated with the control function.

  • Publication number: 20140206416
Abstract: A method includes determining by a sensor of a mobile device that a first ambient sound level represents a quiet context for the mobile device, providing a audio signal to a speaker of the mobile device in response to determining that the first ambient sound level represents a quiet context, determining, by the sensor, that a second ambient sound level represents a first noisy context for the mobile device, wherein the second ambient sound level is louder than the first ambient sound level, modifying the audio signal into a beam forming audio signal in response to determining that the second ambient sound level represents the first noisy context, and providing the beam forming audio signal to the speaker.

  • Patent number: 8174410
Abstract: An improved keyboard layout for use with information handling systems such as ultra mobile information handling systems. The improved keyboard layout eliminates the numbered function key (F1-F12) row and maps all of the functions that have traditionally been function (Fn) options on the F1-F12 row (such as brightness, volume, battery meter, etc.) to other keys.

  • Publication number: 20110205157
Abstract: A disabled information handling system integrated pointing device is automatically enabled based upon user inputs detected at the integrated pointing device, such as inputs that indicate a user is unsuccessfully attempting to use the integrated pointing device. For example, a touchpad disposed at a portable information handling system housing in a disabled state automatically transitions to an enabled state when user inputs include rapid movements, movements from end to end or movements of increasing speed. The touchpad automatically transitions to an enabled state based upon movements interpreted as an attempt by the user to make inputs at the touchpad.

  • Publication number: 20110134048
Abstract: A system for interpretation of gesture on a non-all-points-addressable multi-touch input device having integrated buttons. The system for interpretation of gesture on a non-all-points-addressable multi-touch input device having integrated buttons implements a time based method of disregard of a certain button input for a predefined period of time if a user has not actuated the button for a predefined period of time. In certain embodiments, the system detects that a user has had a finger resting on the left button area but has not actuated the left button. If a finger is actively detected performing cursor movement, then another finger is placed on top of the certain button area (i.e., a resting finger), the system can choose to ignore the resting finger with an assumption that the user intends to navigate with the cursor and rest the other finger based on the action and surface area of the second finger (i.e., the other finger).

  • Publication number: 20110061025
Abstract: A gesture based method for scrolling through a document. More specifically, the gesture based method for scrolling through a document includes an automatic scroll gesture so that a user does not need to perform multiple scroll gestures when scrolling through a document.

  • Publication number: 20100241983
Abstract: An information handling system presents a keyboard at a touch screen display to accept end user key inputs. An accelerometer integrated in the information handling system detects accelerations that indicate a change in the configuration of the keyboard presented at the touch screen display. The keyboard presentation adjusts from a full size that accepts end user inputs to a reduced size that provides the end user with increased display area for alternative uses. For example, an acceleration commands keyboard minimization, keyboard presentation at a reduced size, partial keyboard presentation, keyboard presentation to avoid key fields that accept use inputs, keyboard presentation with a configuration having fewer keys, or other types keyboard configurations.

  • Publication number: 20100238123
Abstract: A gesture based method for generating a screen presentation content change. The gesture based method for generating a screen presentation content change used a gesture (such as e.g., a full palm or multi-finger gesture) on a touchpad or a touch sensitive display screen that generates a screen presentation content change.

  • Publication number: 20100156793
Abstract: An information handling system automatically presents a keyboard input device on a touchscreen display in response to detecting touches on the touchscreen in a keyboard configuration. The location of the keyboard and placement of the keys adapt to an end user's touch, providing a conveniently-sized input device automatically adapted to end user inputs. Haptic feedback at predetermined reference points aids end user interaction with the keyboard.
