  • Publication number: 20220364902
Abstract: The invention is directed towards calibrating fluid flow measurements. A method includes receiving fluid velocity and depth data from sensors placed in the flow channel. Once calibrated based on direct measurements from the flow channel, a depth or velocity of the fluid in the flow path is approximated based on a fluid-flow model, a set of flow path parameters, and the magnitude of the velocity or depth measured. These values can be determined for multiple flow regimes. The set of flow path parameters characterizes one or more properties of the flow path. An effective area of the flow path is calculated based on the depth of the fluid flowing in the flow path and the set of flow path parameters. A flow rate of the fluid flowing in the flow path is determined based on the magnitude of the velocity of the fluid flowing in the flow path. An indication of the flow rate of the fluid is provided to a user.

  • Publication number: 20220358613
Abstract: The invention includes a method that accesses map data for a region and for a set of flood risk factors. The map data is transformed to a common data schema. The transformed map data is subdivided into a set of sub-regions. For each sub-region, a set of flood risk factor scores is determined based on the transformed map data. The set of flood risk factor scores corresponds to the set of flood risk factors. For each sub-region, a composite flood risk score is determined. Determining the composite flood risk score for the sub-region is based on a combination of flood risk factor scores included in the set flood risk factor scores corresponding to the sub-region. A flood risk report is generated for the region. The flood risk report is based on the set of flood risk factor scores and the composite flood risk score corresponding to each of the sub-regions.

  • Publication number: 20220356690
Abstract: The invention is directed towards decoupling tidal effects from time-series depth measurements. A drainage sensor includes a fluid depth sensor. The drainage sensors are positioned at monitoring points in a drainage system. Stormwater flows into an input of the drainage system. A tidal depth sensor is positioned in a tidal body of water near an output of the drainage system. During period of high tide, tidal water backflows into the output of the drainage system. The decoupling is accomplished by generating a model of tidal backflow patterns based on data from the drainage sensors and the tidal sensor. The model accounts for a lag time between the tidal data measurements and measurements of the drainage sensors. The model is be used to predict the contribution of tidal backflow effects to stormwater data.
