Publication number: 20120273150Abstract: Distribution channeling for stock suspension, the distribution channeling being in connection with a headbox of a paper machine The distribution channeling is fed with a transverse input channel for stock suspension, such as with an inlet pipe, and which distribution channeling feeds stock suspension into an intermediate chamber and onwards from the intermediate chamber to the slice channel of a paper machine. The distribution channeling is formed from a number of modular pieces and is fitted to the headbox after the input channel. One or more distribution channels, such as a hole, for the stock suspension flowing through a modular piece are formed in the modular piece. The modular pieces are placed side by side such that an interspace forms between them, from which interspace diluting water can be fed into the distribution channel.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 27, 2012Publication date: November 1, 2012Applicant: VAAHTO PAPER TECHNOLOGY OYInventors: Erkka NIEMINEN, Harri KRONHOLM

Publication number: 20120247704Abstract: Feeder channel for diluting a fluid, in connection with a headbox of a paper machine includes one or more reservoir-type spaces for receiving diluting fluid. An aperture is formed in the reservoir-type space, wherein the diluting fluid can be conducted into the stock flow space of the headbox. One or more shut-off/adjustment members, for adjusting the flow of diluting fluid, is fitted into the feeder channel. The shut-off/adjustment member is a shut-off/adjustment device that can be moved in the longitudinal direction in the aperture formed in the wall of the reservoir-type space. The shut-off/adjustment member that is partly or wholly inside the aperture with one or more cavities and/or recesses, via which the flow of diluting fluid from the reservoir-type space either directly or via an intermediate piece into the stock flow space can be adjusted by moving the shut-off/adjustment member in the aperture.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2012Publication date: October 4, 2012Applicant: VAAHTO OYInventors: Erkka NIEMINEN, Harri KRONHOLM

Patent number: 8177071Abstract: An injector for a flotation cell, comprising a feed channel for feeding a fiber suspension flow to the flotation cell, a flow distribution element for distributing the fiber suspension flow fed to the injector into partial flows, a mixing apparatus for mixing air with the fiber suspension flow, and at least one air input point for sucking air to be mixed with the fiber suspension flow into the injector. The feed channel, the flow distribution element and the mixing apparatus are in the injector arranged with respect to one another such that a flow direction of the fiber suspension flow in the feed channel is substantially opposite to a flow direction of the fiber suspension flow through the flow distribution element and the mixing apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2008Date of Patent: May 15, 2012Assignee: Metso Paper, Inc.Inventor: Erkka Nieminen

Patent number: 8167133Abstract: An injector of a flotation cell, the injector comprising a feed pipe for feeding a fiber suspension flow into the flotation cell, a mixing apparatus for mixing air into the fiber suspension flow and at least one air feed connection arranged before the mixing apparatus for feeding air into the injector. The injector further comprises a nozzle section which is arranged before the mixing apparatus and comprises an aperture plate provided with apertures and nozzles fixed to the aperture plate substantially at the apertures after the aperture plate, there being open spaces between the nozzles. The air to be fed from the air feed connection is arranged to flow into the spaces between the nozzles and further into the mixing apparatus with the partial flows of the fiber suspension flow entering from the nozzles.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2006Date of Patent: May 1, 2012Assignee: Metso Paper, Inc.Inventors: Erkka Nieminen, Veikko Kankaanpää, Vesa Harju

Patent number: 7429310Abstract: A paper or board machine has a fabric (10) that is adapted mobile as well as rolls (11, 11?) arranged to support the fabric (10). The fabric (10) is tensioned by changing the position of one roll (11?) of the rolls (11, 11?). Correspondingly, the fabric (10) is guided by changing the alignment of one roll (11?) of the said rolls (11, 11?). Surprisingly the fabric (10) is both tensioned and guided by changing the alignment and position of only one and the same roll (11?). In addition, the wrap angle of the fabric (10) at this roll (11?) is set higher than 30°.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2004Date of Patent: September 30, 2008Assignee: Metso Paper, Inc.Inventors: Pertti K. Patent number: 6589424Abstract: A method for making a screen cylinder is described in which screen wires are arranged on the inner surface of a support wire at certain intervals and attached by a weld from the outer surface of the support wire. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the screen wires are arranged in mounting grooves provided on the inner surface of the support wire and welded by a welding method providing deep penetration so that the weld extends through the support wire from the outer surface of the hoop to the screen wire. In another embodiment, a welding groove is formed on the outer surface of the support wire and the weld is effected in the welding groove. The invention further relates to a screen cylinder manufactured by the method of the invention.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2000Date of Patent: July 8, 2003Assignee: Metso Paper, Inc.Inventor: Erkka Nieminen
