Abstract: An appratus for treating medium consistency pulp in connection with different treatment apparatuses, such as washers. According to the prior art the treatment of pulp, for example, the washing process, starts at a low consistency, approximately 1-3% so that it is necessary always to dilute pulp before washing, whereby the water consumption of the plant increases and the need of power in, for example, pumping and in the treatment generally increases. The present invention makes it possible to treat medium consistency pulp, because the feeding means is able to spread the pulp as an even layer on the perforated surface of the treating apparatus.

Abstract: An apparatus for treating, e.g., washing or filtering, fiber suspensions having a consistency of 8-20%, the apparatus including at least on rotatable filtering surface, an arrangement for feeding the suspension to a treatment region of the apparatus, and an arrangement for discharging the suspension from the treatment region, the feeding arrangement including at least one pressure chamber for fluidizing the suspension, at least one inlet duct for introducing the suspension to the chamber, and at least one feed duct for transferring the suspension from the pressure chamber to the treatment region.

Abstract: A packing arrangement for sealing the outer surface of a rotary, drum-like object, such as a washer used in manufacturing cellulose, with a non-rotating annular packing, which is most advantageously composed of one or several side-by-side packing fillets, e.g. braided packings, the arrangement including a circular packing body which together with the rotating drum surface, defines a space in which the packings have been installed. The drawback encountered in existing arrangements is wear of the packing, and consequent leakage. In the packing arrangement of the invention, this has been solved in that the packing body is, at least in its radial direction, elastically supported so that, as the drum-like object rotates, the packings yield to the movements of the drum surface arising from radial displacements of the drum.

Abstract: Refiner comprising a feed means feeding material to be refined, such as wood chips or paper pulp, into a gap between grinding disks and comprising a tubular jacket housing a feed screw rotating about its axis and having in its top surface an aperture for material infeed from a container located above and into the jacket, and said refiner comprising at least one rotating grinding disk. The feed screw has been connected by a coupling to the rotating disk and derives its rotary motion from the rotary motion of the grinding disk.
