Abstract: The invention concerns laminates incorporating plastic layers and cellulose fiber layers and a method for the production thereof. The plastic layers and the cellulose fiber layers incorporated in the laminates can be separated intact from each other in aqueous defibering by virtue of a water-soluble polymer layer placed adjacent to the fibrous layer whereby all components of the laminate become recyclable for reuse. The laminates can be produced using extrusion coating/laminating methods. The laminates according to the invention are suited to use as, e.g., wrapper and packaging materials.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing packaging-container blanks is disclosed which method includes forming a substantially continuous sheet of blanks which sheet comprises a substrate and a coating material attached to said substrate. The coating material at the edges of the blanks of said sheet either extends beyond the substrate or is unattached to the substrate adjacent the edge, or both. The sheet of blanks is manufactured by extruding a molten thermoplastic coating material onto the substrate between two revolving cylindrical rolls. The substrate and the coating material are joined in such a manner that at spaced, selected intervals, elongated zones are provided where they are unattached to each other.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for manufacturing an even laminated product by extruding a molten thermoplastic coating material track onto a basic-material track. The edge strips of the coating material track are cooled by means of jets of heat absorbing material to keep the said edge strips of coating material from adhering to the basic-material track. The edge strips of each track are then cut off said tracks, chopped separately, and directed separately for recovery.
