  • Publication number: 20230418373
Abstract: A controller (442) for a video processing system (400). The controller (442) is configured to receive acquired images; recognise a looking-stimulus by determining that an acquired image shows a user to be looking towards the camera or a display screen; and/or recognise a present-stimulus by determining that a user is visible in an acquired image an acquired image shows a user that is not looking towards the camera or the display screen. The controller (442) can then generate a video stream based on the acquired images, and set a characteristic of the video stream based on the recognised looking-stimulus or the present-stimulus.

  • Patent number: 11592898
Abstract: Techniques for changing the presentation of information on a user interface based on presence are described. In an example, a computer system determines, based on an image sensor associated with the system, a first presence of a first user relative to a computing device. The computer system also determines an identifier of the first user. The identifier is associated with operating the computing device. The operating comprises a presentation of the user interface by the computing device. The computer system also determines, based on the image sensor, a second presence of a second person relative to the computing device. The computer system causes an update to the user interface based on the second presence.

  • Patent number: 11580765
Abstract: A method including providing a sensor device including one or several sensors. The sensor device is arranged to perform at least one high-power type measurement and at least one low-power type measurement and includes at least one image sensor arranged to depict a person by a measurement of said high-power type. Each of the low-power type measurements over time requires less electric power for operation as compared to each of the high-power type measurements. The method includes detecting a potential presence of the person using at least one of said low-power type measurements. The method includes producing, using one of the high-power type measurements, an image depicting a person and detecting a presence of the person based on im-age analysis of the image. The method includes detecting, using at least one of the low-power type measurements, a maintained presence of the person. The method includes failing to detect a maintained presence of the person.

  • Publication number: 20210342000
Abstract: Techniques for interacting with a first computing device based on gaze information are described. In an example, the first computing device captures a gaze direction of a first user of the first computing device by using an eye tracking device. The first computing device displays a representation of a second user on a display of the first computing device. Further, the first computing device receives from the first user, communication data generated by an input device. The first computing device determines if the gaze direction of the first user is directed to the representation of the second user. If the gaze direction of the first user is directed to the representation of the second user, the first computing device transmits the communication data to a second computing device of the second user.

In an example, the first computing device captures a gaze direction of a first user of the first computing device by using an eye tracking device. The first computing device determines if the gaze direction of the first user is directed to a first display. If the gaze direction of the first user is directed to the first display and the gaze direction of the second user is directed to the second display, the first computing device continuously updates content on the first display. If the gaze direction of the second user is not directed to the second display, the first computing device pauses the content on the first display.

  • Publication number: 20210141451
Abstract: A computer system can be controlled with non-contact inputs, such as eye-tracking devices. A computer can enlarge a portion of a display adjacent a first gaze target in response to detecting a first action (e.g., pressing a touchpad). The computer can then allow a user to position a second gaze target in the enlarged portion (e.g., by looking at the desired location) and perform a second action in order to perform a computer function at that location. The enlarging can allow a user to identify a desired location for a computer function (e.g., selecting an icon) with greater precision.

  • Publication number: 20200285379
Abstract: A method and system for assisting a user when interacting with a graphical user interface combines gaze based input with gesture based user commands. A user of a computer system without a traditional touch-screen can interact with graphical user interfaces in a touch-screen like manner using a combination of gaze based input and gesture based user commands. A solution for touch-screen like interaction uses gaze input and gesture based input as a complement or an alternative to touch-screen interactions with a computer device having a touch-screen. Combined gaze and gesture based interaction with graphical user interfaces can be used to achieve a touchscreen like environment in computer systems without a traditional touchscreen or in computer systems having a touchscreen arranged ergonomically unfavorable for the user or a touchscreen arranged such that it is more comfortable for the user to use gesture and gaze for the interaction than the touchscreen.

  • Patent number: 10599214
Abstract: According to the invention, a method for dismissing information from a display device based on a gaze input is disclosed. The method may include determining that an object has been displayed on a display device. The method may also include determining an area on the display device associated with the object. The method may further include determining a gaze location of a user on the display device. The method may additionally include causing the object to not be displayed on the display device, based at least in part on the gaze location being located within the area for at least a first predetermined length of time.

  • Patent number: 10545574
Abstract: A computer system can be controlled with non-contact inputs, such as eye-tracking devices. A visual indicator can be presented on a display to indicate the location where a computer function will take place (e.g., a common cursor). The visual indicator can be moved to a gaze target in response to continued detection of an action (e.g., touchpad touch) by a user for a predetermined period of time. A delay between the action and the movement of the visual indicator can allow a user time to “abort” movement of the visual indicator. Additionally, once the visual indicator has moved, the visual indicator can be controlled with additional precision as the user moves the gaze while continuing the action (e.g., continued holding of the touchpad).
