  • Patent number: 5230719
Abstract: An apparatus and method for dehumidifying air includes a duct with at least four ports, two at each end. The ports are regulated by valves that are biased in the closed position. A desiccant containing matrix is disposed within the duct. One or more fans are adapted to produce substantially axial air flow in two directions through the duct: a first direction during a regeneration phase of the dehumidifying cycle and a second direction during a process phase of the dehumidifying cycle. In the process direction, air from the enclosure enters one end of the duct, passes through the desiccant containing matrix where moisture is absorbed by the matrix and exits through the opposite end of the duct back to the enclosure. The air is thus at a lower relative humidity when it leaves the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5050667
Abstract: An apparatus is provided which combines in a single, relatively compact housing the necessary components to efficiently exchange stale room air with fresh outside air. The apparatus includes a single, continuous duct having openings at each end. A heat storing matrix is disposed within the duct. A fan is also placed within the duct. The fan is capable of producing a substantially axial air flow through the duct. The fan is moveable between two positions: a first position wherein air flow is in a direction from the first end to the second end of the duct and a second position wherein air flow is reversed. The apparatus includes means for moving the fan from the first position to the second position such as a solenoid.

  • Patent number: 4727931
Abstract: Apparatus for exchanging contaminated room air with fresh outdoor air and a method for operating same is disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing having a pair of substantially parallel air passageways sealed from one another and providing fluid communication between the room and the outdoors. A heat recovery rotor is disposed in the air passageways in an inclined orientation.

  • Patent number: 4589476
Abstract: Apparatus for exchanging air within an enclosure with outside air while subjecting air within the enclosure to gas filtration and/or electronic air cleaning. The apparatus includes a two-position valve to provide an intake cycle and an exhaust cycle; during both cycles the air treatment means is operative on air within the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 4542782
Abstract: A rotary-type heat exchanger comprises a rotor having gas passages in the direction of its shaft, a casing for said rotor, an entrance of said casing to guide the high temperature incoming gas to be used for the heat exchange exclusively toward said rotor except for the gas passages outer periphery thereof and the areas close to the shaft of said rotor, a heat insulation being treated on the inner wall of said entrance, a sealing member for high temperature being provided on the entrance toward said rotor to keep the gas leakage minimum, an exhaust gas outlet of said casing being provided on the side opposing to said entrance to guide all the exhaust gas passed through said rotor to outside, a sealing member being provided on the exhaust gas outlet toward said rotor of said exhaust gas outlet to keep the gas leakage minimum, an outer fresh gas inlet of said casing to guide outer fresh gas into said casing, for heat exchange and cooling an outlet port of said casing being provided on the side opposing to said

  • Patent number: 3960196
Abstract: A door closure useful as such, but particularly as an air curtain device and process in which laterally spaced-apart parallel sliding sections of a closure formed of separable or pivotally connected vertically mounted panels form a flexible air duct between inner and outer sections connected to a nozzle supported at a bottom outlet between the sections to provide an air screen of homogeneity and resistance to lateral air currents in various open, partially open and closed door positions, by air passed into the top between the sections, from a plenum passing air received from a fixed blower mounted above or near the top of the door within a space enclosed by the walls of the opening.
