  • Publication number: 20130285677
Abstract: A water content measuring apparatus, for measuring water content present in a fluid flow through a tube, includes a pulse generator for generating in operation a temporal series of excitation pulses, a coil arrangement disposed around the tube adapted to be excited into resonance by the series of excitation pulses and interact with the fluid flow through the tube, and a signal processor adapted to receive resonance signals from the coil arrangement for determining a water content present within the tube. The coil arrangement includes a resonance coil having a length-to-diameter ratio which is at least 3:1, and wherein the resonance coil includes at least 10 turns.

  • Patent number: 7276916
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an arrangement of measuring conductive component content of a multiphase fluid flow and uses thereof. The claimed device comprises two coils arranged around the pipe containing the fluid to be measured, where the induced power loss in the mixture is determined, thereby determining the content of the conductive component. Alternatively, a number of coils are arranged on the outside surface of the fluid transporting pipe and the power loss or attenuation of magnetic field is determined.

  • Patent number: 6782736
Abstract: A method for measuring interface levels between fluids is described, characterized in that, with the aid of a magnetic field forming means, a variable magnetic field is formed in one of the fluids whereby a counterflowing magnetic field is established, being a function of the fluid properties with respect to the portion of conducting fraction in the fluid, and conductivity of the fraction; and the properties of the mentioned fluid are registered by registering the dominating impedance, alternatively resonance frequency, of the system; and by corresponding registrations of different fluid layers at the respective height levels, and in the existing interphase layers, and thereafter by mutual comparison of the mentioned properties, one or more exsisting multiphase levels are determined. A device to carry out the method is also described.

  • Patent number: 4945276
Abstract: A transducer for arranging in a fluid particularly for the measurement of the flow velocity of a fluid in a pipe by transmitting/receiving sonic pulses, is designed as a cupshaped metal body (5), whose base (2) as membrane (3) is assigned an electrode (4) on its inside, which is sealed off against the environment i.e. against the fluid, and whose cup wall is designed with an annulus (6) filled with a powerful damping material (8), for example epoxy, rubber or epoxy mixed with metal particles.

  • Patent number: 4914959
Abstract: A transducer system and method is provided for ultrasonic measurement of the flow velocity of a fluid in a pipe. Two transducers are mounted on opposite sides of a pipe, the second transducer being downstream from the first. The two transducers alternately transmit and receive ultrasonic pulses along respective center axes which are deviated upstream from an imaginary line connecting the transducers.
