  • Patent number: 4659156
Abstract: According to the invention an improved connector has a housing portion with a base for mounting on a printed circuit board, projecting mounting posts extend from the base, a conductive outer shell and a dielectric body are surrounded by the housing portion, a first conductive contact is carried by the dielectric body and projects from the outer shell and has a first contact portion projecting from the housing for insertion into a corresponding aperture of a printed circuit board, the outer shell has a second contact portion projecting from the housing for insertion into a corresponding aperture of a printed circuit board, the free ends of the mounting posts project outwardly further from the base of the housing than the free ends of the first and the second contact portions, and the connector is characterized in that; each mounting post has a taper toward the free end, and each contact portion has a taper toward the free end and with an apex of the taper that intersects a longitudinal edge of the correspondin

  • Patent number: 4611887
Abstract: A fiber optic connector assembly comprises a housing member having a passageway extending therethrough. A receptacle connector member is latchably mounted in the passageway and has therein fiber optic connectors terminated to ends of fiber optic transmission members and fiber optic cables. The fiber optic connectors are mounted in the receptacle connector member as spring-biased connectors with profiled resilient front ends of the connectors disposed in profiled bores of alignment ferrules that are floatingly mounted in the receptacle connector member. A plug connector member has mounted therein spring-biased fiber optic connectors terminated to ends of fiber optic transmission members.

  • Patent number: 4611213
Abstract: A coaxial connector for connection to one end of an antenna comprises a metal shell including a coupling section for coupling the connector to a complementary coaxial connector. A dielectric member is disposed in the metal shell and secured therein enabling the metal shell and dielectric member to rotate relative to each other. A bore extending through the dielectric member has a front section of polygonal configuration along which a contact section of the center contact member extends and a rear section along which a theaded section of the center contact member forms threads in the rear section thereby securing the center contact member in the bore of the dielectric member while the polygonal front section engages a complementary holding member to maintain the dielectric stationary during threading of the threaded section into the rear section. An antenna-securing section of the center contact member extends outwardly from the threaded section onto which an end of an antenna is secured.

  • Patent number: 4580862
Abstract: According to the present invention, an electrical plug connector is mountable onto a panel member for matable connection with an electrical receptacle connector mounted on another panel member when the panel members are moved relative to one another. The plug connector includes a mounting member for mounting to the panel member and it has a hole therein. A plug body member includes a contact section, a terminating section and an intermediate section; the intermediate section is disposed in the hole, and the hole has a diameter larger than the intermediate section.

  • Patent number: 4447121
Abstract: A connector for a fiber optic member comprises a ferrule in which is positioned an insert surrounding a section of the fiber optic member adjacent an exposed end of the fiber optic member, the exposed end extending along a front bore of the ferrule. A crimping ring on the ferrule is controllably crimped thereon thereby moving arcuate sections of the insert into mechanical engagement with the fiber optic member with no or minimum deformation to the fiber optic member and securing the fiber optic member in the ferrule. A single crimping ferrule can be used if desired.

  • Patent number: 4322025
Abstract: An improved tool for cutting optical fibers by the scribe-and-break technique is provided. The tool has a scribing edge transversely directed with respect to, and normally spaced from, an arcuate convex fiber supporting surface. When moved normally with respect to the fiber supporting surface, the scribing edge defines a scribing plane. Spring members, located on opposite sides of the scribing plane, are compressed between the fiber supporting surface and a bearing surface, causing the optical fiber to be clamped between the spring members and the fiber supporting surface. This compression also forces the spring members to slide longitudinally along the fiber supporting surface away from the scribing plane, imparting an axial tensile stress to the optical fiber. The optical fiber is finally scribed by the scribing edge, resulting in propagation of a fraction over the cross section.
