    Abstract: A transport service system receives a ride request from a user device of the transport service, the ride request specifying information about a trip and selecting a direct dispatch pairing mode. The transport service system receives from the user device an input animation, the input animation acquired by the user device from a driver device. In one embodiment the input animation is a sequence of flashing colors. Based on the input animation, the transport service system identifies the driver device and transmits the received ride request to the identified driver device. The transport service system receives an acceptance from the driver device and pairs the driver device and the user device for the ride.

    Abstract: Due to the noisy nature of global positioning systems (GPS), tracing a signal from a device of a delivery provider may be inadequate for the task of determining a best dispatch time. However, leveraging motion data from mobile devices provides a more detailed picture of when a delivery provider is on the road, walking, or waiting. Using this data, an example embodiment creates a trip state model that enables segmenting out each stage of a trip. The trip state model enables collection and use of historical data for individual restaurants, which allows a dispatch system to optimize pickup and delivery times for both delivery providers and consumers.

The network system receives a request to search for an object and a geographic region within which to search the object. The network system provides instructions to client devices within the geographic region to search for the object. Upon receiving instructions to search for the object, the client device captures visual data of the area around the client device. The client device analyzes the visual data to detect the object and notifies the network system if the object is detected.
