    Abstract: A one-piece shell for chairs made of a semi-rigid structural material. A plurality of parallel slots in the shell extend rearwardly from the seat section across the transition section and up the back section to form parallel ribs from the rear of the seat section into the back section. The ribs are corrugated to enable them to expand and twist individually to change the contours of the shell to accommodate different body shapes and movements.
