    Abstract: A float controlled siphon discharge valve mechanism operates to drain water from a swimming pool cover, and includes a lever arm attached at one end to a hinge and having a float on the other end so that the lever is of the second or third type. A closure control is also included to sense for the presence of water immediately adjacent to the drain opening, and includes a spring loaded control arm connected to the lever arm to force the lever arm into a drain occluding position even if the float does not move that lever arm into such a position in order to ensure that the siphon is not broken even in the event that the float operation malfunctions.
