  • Patent number: 6907915
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and to an installation for producing a metal strip. The aim of the invention is to make sure that the metal strip formed in the casting installation passes through the first cooling and grain texturing phase substantially without being subjected to stress and without effects on the subsequent installations. To this end, the molten bath is fed to a two-roll casting device and a cast metal strip is formed in the casting gap between two casting rolls whose rotational axes lie in a horizontal plane (two-roll casting method), the thickness of the cast strip ranging between 1.0 to 20 mm, preferably between 1.5 to 12 mm. The cast metal strip that freely emerges downwards from the two-roll casting installation is directly deflected from the vertical casting direction to a substantially horizontal transport direction. The metal strip is taken up and conveyed in a controlled manner by means of a first drive roll stand that operates at a first transport speed.

  • Patent number: 4951928
Abstract: A blowing lance to be used for the treatment of metallurgical melts includes a lance head having several expansion tuyeres directed to the bath level of the melt and penetrating a front plate of the lance head. They depart from at least one lance channel, which is peripherally surrounded by a supply channel and a return channel for a cooling medium. The supply channel is separated from the return channel by a flow deflection piece arranged above the front plate and penetrated by at least one connecting channel connecting the supply and return channels and provided for the cooling medium.

  • Patent number: 4197711
Abstract: Turbocharging apparatus for an internal combustion engine is provided which includes an exhaust gas driven turbocharger with an exhaust gas line leading to an exhaust turbine thereof to drive the same. In order to control the supply of exhaust gases to the exhaust turbine, a control valve is provided between the exhaust line and atmosphere for selectively venting a portion of the exhaust gases. The position of the control valve is in turn governed by a movable diaphragm communicated with charging air pressure by way of a regulating device, which regulating device is responsive to both the charging air pressure and the temperature of the cylinder head of the engine, to precisely control the turbocharger.
