  • Patent number: 4583662
Abstract: An improved roller mill construction. Material to be milled or ground is fed through a discharge opening in a hopper to a pair of cooperating rolls that are mounted within a housing. The discharge opening is enclosed by a sliding gate which is biased to the closed position and can be opened by manual operation of a pull rod. An adjustable setting mechanism is incorporated with the pull rod and enables the gate to be held at an infinite number of open positions.

Date of Patent: April 22, 1986
Assignee: A. O. Smith Harvestore Products, Inc.

  • Patent number: 4485977
Abstract: An improved roller mill construction. Material to be milled or ground such is fed through a discharge opening in a hopper to a pair of cooperating rolls that are mounted within a housing. The discharge opening is enclosed by a sliding gate which is biased to the closed position and can be opened by manual operation of a pull rod. An adjustable setting mechanism is incorporated with the pull rod and enables the gate to be held at an infinite number of open positions. To adjust the spacing between the rolls, the shaft of one of the rolls is journalled within bearing assemblies that are mounted for sliding movement with respect to the housing. A rod is secured to each slidable bearing assembly and is threadedly connected to a shaft which carries a sprocket. By driving the sprockets in unison, the shafts will be rotated to thereby move the bearing assemblies and adjust the spacing between the rolls.

  • Patent number: 4321996
Abstract: The cleated belt forage conveyor of the invention is directed to a forage belt conveyor in which the belt in service is protected against side discharge of conveyed forage by upstanding and intermittent central cleats and outwardly spaced side cleats. Sealing strips extend above the belt in the spaces between the respective central and side cleats to limit outward movement of the bulk of the forage and an edging extends on each side of the belt to prevent spillover. In the event of some side discharge from the belt to the inside of the lower reach of the belt, a plow overlying the inside of the lower reach of the belt directs the forage for discharge to vibrating deflector plates which deflect the forage to the bottom of the housing of the conveyor to be carried by the cleats to the input side of the conveyor and around the idler pulley for reconveyance.

  • Patent number: 4119193
Abstract: A livestock feeder device having a reciprocating carriage or shuttle adapted to be driven back and forth over a receiver such as a feed bunk having one or more zones. An endless conveyor belt extends around spaced guides on the carriage. A belt drive mechanism is fixedly mounted separate from the carriage and selectively drives the belt continuously in either direction no matter which direction the carriage is moving, or even if the carriage is stationary. Feed discharge is made from either end of the belt, independent of the carriage drive. The latter drive includes mechanism for selectively determining the zone or zones into which feed is delivered.
