  • Patent number: 7222581
Abstract: A transition device for providing a smooth corner of a pair of angular oriented interconnected windshields on a boat, the boat having a forward facing or front windshield and a side facing windshield, both the windshields being mounted in a formed aluminum molding. The transition device comprises a first element attached to the molding of the forward facing windshield at an upper end of the joint and terminating at the joint in a ball and a second element attached to the molding of the side facing windshield at the upper end of the joint and terminating in a socket. The ball and the socket are shaped and sized to fit together to form a smooth transition at the upper end of the joint so that the corner joint appears to have a ball and socket joint.

  • Publication number: 20030141722
Abstract: An apparatus for securing a first article in stationary relationship to a second article where the first article and second article lie in offset planes when in a closed position. The apparatus may include a latch handle mounted in fixed relation to the first article with a plunger connected to the latch handle and responsive to movement of the latch handle. The latch handle may be articulated between a closed position and an open position such that the plunger is moved between a respective latched position and an unlatched position. A latching flange may be mounted in fixed relation to the second article such that the plunger engages a portion of the latching flange when the plunger is in the latched position to prevent the first article and the second article from moving in a lateral relation to each other. The first article and the second article may be prevented from moving in a substantially planar relation to each other when the first article and the second article are in a closed position.

  • Patent number: 5832565
Abstract: A versatile hinge arrangement is disclosed which advantageously prevents binding when multiple hinges are employed on oval or similarly shaped windows such as marine windows. The hinge includes a first hinge member having two arms with aligned central holes for holding a hinge pin in an axially fixed position with respect to the first hinge member. The hinge also includes a second hinge member having a pivot head with a pivot chamber through which passes the portion of the hinge pin between the arms of the first hinge member. The mid portion of the pivot chamber is narrower than the ends of the pivot chamber such that a central pivot is formed at the mid portion of the pivot chamber. In this manner, the first hinge member and the hinge pin attached thereto are permitted to pivot both axially and radially about the central pivot of the second hinge member's pivot chamber. Binding of the hinge as the hinge pivots is thus advantageously avoided.
