Abstract: A threaded fastener having a two-piece nut member and a bolt with the nut member having a threaded nut member and a base member is disclosed. The threaded nut member has a body portion and a neck portion, the neck portion engaging with a transition beginning engagement on the base member. The base member includes a transition portion, the diameter of the transition portion increasing radially as it extends axially from the cylindrical through bore portion to an increased diameter at the outer planar surface of the base member. Movement of the neck potion into the based member results in the threaded form having a compressive engagement with engaged threads of the bolt to provide the prevailing torque structure. The threaded nut member and base member may be made of dissimilar materials and is more flexible in use with varying bearing surfaces.

Abstract: A pull type swage fastener including a pin and a collar adapted to be swaged into a locking portion on the pin shank and with a removable mandrel being threadably securable in a pull cavity at the end of the pin shank and with the mandrel adapted to be gripped by an installation tool for applying a relative axial force between the pin and collar to swage the collar into the locking portion with the mandrel being releasable from the tool and removable from the pull cavity.

Abstract: A blind bolt for securing a plurality of workpieces at a desired clamping force includes a pin having an elongated shank terminating at one end in an enlarged pin head and a generally elongated tubular sleeve adapted to receive said pin shank. The sleeve includes a first portion adapted to be located in aligned openings in the workpieces and a second portion being located on said pin shank between said pin head and said first sleeve portion. A nut is operatively connected with said pin and is adapted to be engaged by an installation tool whereby an axial force can be applied by the installation tool between said pin and the nut to clamp the workpieces together. The second sleeve portion is radially deformable at a location between said pin head and a blind side surface of the workpieces in response to the relative axial force of a magnitude less than the clamping force to form an enlarged blind head for engaging the blind side surface.
