  • Patent number: 6597670
Abstract: A method and system for distributing subscriber services to a number of user locations in a broadband cellular network. A bidirectional antenna array located at a number of cell centers provides coverage over a wide service area by using wireless distribution loops. The cell centers broadcast subscriber services over designated channels and a user at the subscriber site location commands a centralized mechanism to switch to the channel broadcasting the requested service. The duplication of service channels is minimized and the number of subscribers is maximized by allowing channel selection to occur at various points in the distribution network. Each antenna in the array is configured to provide the subscriber service to a particular service segment. These segments include subscriber location sites with processing equipment to request and receive the services in the form of information programs, data, signaling, etc.

  • Patent number: 4931872
Abstract: Split-screen video displays are presented at a plurality of different sites for a video teleconference. Video cameras are focused respectively upon the conferees directly, and centrally. The displays at each site show the conferees at remote sites. The positioning of the conferees at different sites on a display is achieved electronically, as by delays of a half a line and/or delays of half a field, rather than by panning or tilting of a camera.

  • Patent number: 4816905
Abstract: An interactive system transfers video and audio information from a central facility to terminals by means of addressed television frames. Each audio frame includes information representing a single channel of time compressed audio. The terminals store correctly addressed frames. Video frames are repeatedly replayed to provide series of still-frame images. The audio frame is used to generate a normal speed audio output.

  • Patent number: 4789895
Abstract: A telecommunication system for synchronizing a digital bit stream sent from a central facility to a terminal on lines of television frames. Each active line starts with a horizontal sync pulse and a color burst. A first data clock at the central facility provides first data clock pulses synchronized with said color burst. A circuit at the central facility provides a flag bit one clock pulse wide delayed by a first constant number of clock pulses from the start of the line's horizontal sync pulse. A second data clock at the terminal provides second data clock pulses synchronized with said color burst. A circuit at said terminal provides a time window delayed by a second constant number of clock pulses from the start of the line's horizontal sync pulse so as to bracket said flag bit. A plurality of second data clock pulses occur during said time window.

  • Patent number: 4780758
Abstract: A telecommunication system for transmitting video and plural audio information on a transmission medium includes a facility and an addressable terminal. The facility includes arrangements for providing addressed video frames containing information corresponding to still images and for providing addressed audio frames containing information corresponding to audio bursts. There is also means for providing non-addressed signals containing information corresponding to at least one channel of continuous audio. The addressed video frames, addressed audio frames, and non-addressed signals are coupled to the transmission medium and sent to the terminal. The addressable terminal includes means for detecting said addressed video frames, addressed audio frames, and non-addressed signals on said transmission medium. Circuits select video frames and audio frames in response to their corresponding addresses.

  • Patent number: 4446552
Abstract: A wideband switch crosspoint and crosspoint matrix can be provided in which direct current through a multiplex switching means enables additional circuitry and extends attenuation between the "on" and the "off" states of the switching means.
