    Abstract: A support surface such as a table 23 has support arms 12, 21 for mounting the support surface on a seat or seats 10, 11 of a motor vehicle, for example for use as a picnic tray or work table.Each support arm 12, 21 has a location portion 14 shaped such that it can be forced into the gap which exists on almost all car seats between the squab portion 10 and the upright portion 11 to be gripped thereby. There is also a foot portion 16 which is shaped to rest on the squab portion of the seat.

    Abstract: One belting end 12 is joined to an adjacent belting end 13 using the apparatus shown in FIG. 3. The belting comprises a body element and a longitudinally extending constraining element embedded in the body element.The ends 12 and 13 are preferably shaped as shown in FIG. 4 and are pressed by the apparatus against opposite faces of a heating element 21. The application of heat and pressure causes the ends of the constraining element to be displaced transversely with respect to their associated body elements, the displacement of one end taking place in the opposite direction to the displacement of the other end so that in the finished joint the ends of the constraining element form an overlapping joint embedded in the fused material of the body element.

    Abstract: An improved drive belting comprises a woven tape constraining element embedded in a polyurethane body element. The warp threads of the woven tape constraining element have a higher modulus of elasticity than the polyurethane body element, are resistant to heat shrinkage and extend substantially through the length of the polyurethane body element to resist extension of the polyurethane body element. At least the warp threads of the woven tape are preferably composed of rayon, although the weft threads may be nylon. The polyurethane has good frictional properties and is extremely wear resistant making it particularly suitable for driving belts.
