  • Patent number: 5114146
Abstract: An apparatus (20) for chance selection of indicia to be used in a game, contest or lottery is provided. Markers (24) of a material inherently capable of induced magnetism are stirred in a pouch (26) with a scraper (32) having a permanent magnet (42) therein. Those markers (28) adhering to the scraper when withdrawn from the pouch are noted. The process is continued until a sufficient quantity of indicia is noted. Preferred embodiments of the markers are spherical and discoidal in shape. The scraper can be used, independently, to remove coating over indicia on game cards, lottery tickets and the like.

  • Patent number: 4757567
Abstract: A scraper for cleaning an obscuring coating off a game card or lottery ticket. The scraper has a scraper blade on one end and a brush on the other comprised of a rabbit's foot allowing the scraper blade to be used by holding the foot as a handle and the brush to be used by holding the scraper blade as a handle. The scraper is coupled to the rabbit's foot using any one of several different means. One embodiment forms the scraper and coupling means from a metal tube. One end of the tube is cut, trimmed, and flattened to form the scraper. The other becomes the coupling means and is fitted over the ankle end of the rabbit's foot and crimped to the foot with the knuckles on the ends of the bones retained inside the coupling means. Other embodiments form the scraper and coupling means from flat metal. A cup or cylinder is formed, fitted, and crimped onto the ankle end of the rabbit's foot to retain the scraper blade.

  • Patent number: 4103458
Abstract: A conventional doorway, of the kind capable of opening in one direction only, is adapted to resist forceful entry by a caller, even after initial opening of the door by an occupant, due to the presence of a generally rectangular and at least partially translucent closure member which is secured to either the door or the door frame, is movable towards and away from an operative position in which it engages respectively either the door frame or the door, and includes means allowing it to be releasably secured in said operative position to prevent opening of the door through more than a predetermined angle, the closure member then bridging the gap which would otherwise have appeared between the door and the door frame so that entry through the doorway by the caller is denied until said means securing the closure member has been released by the occupant.
