  • Patent number: 7207240
Abstract: A command assembly for controlling a splitter in a transmission allows shifting between first and reverse-low gears while the splitter is engaged without requiring the splitter to cycle during the shift. The command assembly creates a signal path for a split enable signal that keeps the transmission in the split mode as long as the transmission engages a low rail of a main drive box. By creating a separate signal path for the split enable signal when the transmission is operating in split mode, the splitter does not need to be cycled when the driver shifts between first and reverse-low gears.

  • Patent number: 5833276
Abstract: A conduit coupling for conduit sections includes a body with a rigid, outer casing and an elastomeric inner core. The core includes a passage with annular ridges for sealing the coupling on the conduit. A pair of lock nuts are mounted on the casing ends and each receives a gripper ring with gripper ring ridges for engaging the conduit. The lock nuts are threadably mounted on the casing for tightening the gripper rings against the conduit sections to resist pull-out.

  • Patent number: 5180197
Abstract: An improved pipe jointing system includes sections of pipe having annular grooves about each of the ends thereof and a coupling having a rigid outer layer and an elastomeric inner layer fixedly secured thereto. The inner layer has a medial, inwardly directed lip and a pair of opposing sets of sawtooth ridges, one set disposed on each side of the lip. A pair of the pipes inserted into opposing ends of one of the couplings in end-to-end relationship compresses the respective lip therebetween forming a fluid-tight seal between the coupling and the pipes. The grooves are adapted to receive respective ones of the sawtooth ridges such that axial movement of the pipes relative to the coupling is resisted. A modified embodiment provides a pipe and coupling system whereby an elastomeric inner layer of the coupling creates sufficient frictional force to resist axially outward movement of the pipes relative to the coupling.

  • Patent number: 4506705
Abstract: A closure device for an opening in a pipe and the like is provided which includes an elastomeric sealing ring having a threaded bore which tapers from an outer to an inner end of the sealing ring. A threaded plug having a tapered configuration from an outer to an inner end thereof is threadably receivable in the sealing ring whereby the sealing ring is expanded and engages the opening in sealing relation. The plug includes a multi-sided boss fixedly attached to and extending from its outer end. The sealing ring engages the opening when the plug is received in the bore thereof in a frictional engagement whereby the sealing ring resists rotation and axial sliding within the opening as the plug is axially advanced into the bore.

  • Patent number: 4126339
Abstract: A fitting for forming a sealed joint with a plain end portion of pipe includes a semi-elastic sleeve member having enlarged ends with annular sealing gaskets received therein. An inwardly extended ridge member is circumferentially arranged at the longitudinal midportion of the sleeve member and provides an abutment surface for limiting the inward extension of a pipe end. A plurality of circumferentially spaced rib-shaped protuberances are positioned within the sleeve member and extend radially inwardly from the interior surface for compressibly gripping and supportably engaging the pipe end within the sleeve member.
