Abstract: A method and system for providing a telematics readiness mode including receiving a first readiness mode input at a telematics unit, initiating a readiness mode responsive to the received first readiness mode input, receiving a second readiness mode input at the telematics unit while in the readiness mode, and determining a readiness action based on the received second readiness mode input. A computer usable medium with suitable computer program code is employed for providing a telematics readiness mode.

Abstract: A telematic system includes a first telematic unit incorporated within a stolen vehicle, a call center, and a second telematic unit incorporated with a police vehicle. The telematic system implements a method for real-time routing to the stolen vehicle. The method cyclically involves a determination of the GPS coordinates of the stolen vehicle and the police vehicle by the respective telematic unit, a calculation of a complete route from the police vehicle to the stolen vehicle, and a calculation of a partial route extending from the police vehicle to the stolen vehicle. The GPS coordinates of the stolen vehicle can be pushed to the police vehicle whereby the second telematic unit obtains the route calculations. Alternatively, the GPS coordinates of both the stolen vehicle and the police vehicle can be pushed to the call center whereby the call center performs the route calculations.

Abstract: A system and method for providing real-time traffic updates to a mobile vehicle communication device is disclosed. Producing traffic incident region coordinate data, communicating the traffic incident region coordinate data to a mobile vehicle communication device, and determining when a traffic incident region coordinate is within a predetermined radius around the mobile vehicle communication device is described. A computer readable medium is also provided including computer readable code for producing traffic incident region coordinate data, code for communicating the traffic incident region coordinate data to a mobile vehicle communication device; and code for determining when a traffic incident region coordinate is within a predetermined radius around the mobile vehicle communication device.
