  • Patent number: 6282932
Abstract: A roller die apparatus for supporting pairs of roller dies in predetermined clearances for processing a web workpiece, and for varying the clearances between the dies to accommodate variations in the thickness of a web workpiece and having first and second roller dies rotatably mounted on respective roller die bearings, one of the first and second roller dies being moveable both upwardly and downwardly transversely to its axis of rotation, and being moveable axially along its axis of rotation, thereby achieving adjusting of the die clearance between the first and second roller dies in two planes. The two adjustments take place simultaneously so as to cause an adjustment movement in a diagonal direction, as between one die and the other in each pair.

  • Patent number: 5669197
Abstract: A sheet metal structural member for use in the formation of a cast construction panel which member, in turn, comprises a sheet metal web defining a linear edge along one side, and a zig-zag edge along the other side, the zig-zag edge defining wider regions, and narrower regions between the wider regions, and the web extending in a generally triangular fashion from one narrower region through a wider region to the next narrower region, edge formations formed around the zig-zag edge portions of the web and, recesses formed in the wider portions of the web. The apex of each of the wider portions of the web, which may be secured to a construction material to form a panel.

  • Patent number: 4059000
Abstract: A rotary embosser for embossing strip sheet metal and having a male embossing roll having a series of upstanding die formations thereon around which the sheet metal runs. One or more indentation rolls having a resilient roll surface are arranged to run in pressurized contact with said embossing roll, said resilient surface being sufficiently resilient to permit indentation of said resilient surface by said male die formations. One indentation roll may be arranged to run in contact with the embossing roll at a point around the circumference thereof spaced down stream from the contact between said embossing roll and the other indentation roll thereby applying tension and pressure to the strip thereby holding the strip in position as it passes around the embossing roll. Tension roll means is arranged upstream around which said sheet metal strip runs, whereby said sheet metal strip is maintained in tension as it passes around both the indentation roll and said embossing roll.

  • Patent number: 4004479
Abstract: A rotary chopper having upper and lower chopper rolls, in which the rolls run in contact with one another, with the chopper blades being formed flush with the surface of the rolls, the surface of the rolls between the chopper blades being formed of a relatively hard stiff resilient material, of such a nature, that at least adjacent to the location of the chopper blades themselves, it may be deflected inwardly to accomodate the overlap of the chopper blades, and then will spring outwardly again so as to constitute the smooth cylindrical surface of the roll. In this way, the scrap edge portion of the strip is permanently gripped between the nip of the rolls at all times, and at the same time the fan-like action of the blades is eliminated, since they are flush with the surface of the rolls.
