Abstract: A scroll-conveyor centrifuge for separating a suspension into at least a liquid phase and solid material which is deposited through centrifugal force on the interior surface of the centrifuge bowl and which is conveyed along that surface to the solid material discharge opening located at an axial end portion of the bowl through rotation of the centrifuge helix at a differential rate with respect to the bowl. Abrasion of the interior bowl surface and operating power requirements due to movement of the solid material in the direction of the bowl circumference are both reduced by the simple expedient of applying to the interior bowl surface a texturing through the spray application of a thin adhering layer having a rough surface facing the helix.

Abstract: A decanter for separating a suspension into a solid space and one or more liquid phases, in which a rotatable drum with a screw inside, rests on a machine bed. The screw is rotatable at a speed that is different from the speed of the drum. A transmission is provided between the drum and the screw, and a motor on the bed is connected to the transmission through a torque-transmitter. Intake and outlet lines communicate with the drum to connect the solids and liquid phases. An elastic bearing disengages at least one of the drum, screw, motor, and transmission in at least one direction having a vector component parallel to the axis of rotation of the decanter. The elastic bearing engages the drum, screw and transmission through the attenuator or damper.

Abstract: A solid shell screw conveyor centrifuge which includes a screw rotating at a differential speed with respect to the shell. One of the shell and screw is connected to a first hydraulic motor as a main drive assembly and to the other of the shell and screw by way of a second hydraulic motor having pressure medium supplied thereto by way of a rotary transmission. The first hydraulic motor functions as a drive assembly for the shell and also is operable as a pump with a discharge from the pump being controlled by way of a valve arrangement. The valve arrangement is disposed in a conduit connecting the hydraulic motor with a pressure medium conduit supplying pressure medium to the rotary transmission of the second hydraulic motor.
