  • Patent number: 6827781
Abstract: A device for moistening a material web moved in the transport direction, is preferably used for re-moistening a paper or textile web dried after printing by means of spray device for spraying a water fog onto the material web under the influence of an electrostatic field produced by a device for electrostatic charging. The device includes a reversing roller provided in the transport direction upstream of the spray device for deflecting the material web. The reversing roller has associated with it a device designed as a corona-charging electrode for electrostatic charging and the spray device has two water spray heads located on both sides of the material web.

  • Patent number: 6504700
Abstract: The invention concerns an active discharge electrode (5) for minimizing positive and/or negative charges on moving material webs. The active discharge electrode (5) comprises a plurality of needle-shaped individual electrodes (8) which are disposed mutually parallel and can be connected to a high-voltage source, preferably a high-voltage transformer. The active discharge electrode (5) further comprises at least one earthing conductor (11) extending at right angles to and along the plurality of individual electrodes (8).

  • Patent number: 6445562
Abstract: The invention is a device which electrostatically charges external sides of at least one moving web. The invention includes a pair of rollers, each roller having an outer coating of limited electrical conductivity and an inner core in contact with the outer coating with the outer coating of each roller being spaced apart to define a gap through which the at least one moving web passes so that the outer coating of each roller contacts one of the external sides of the at least one web to transfer electrical charge from the outer surface coating to the moving web; and a high voltage power supply which applies electrical charge to the outer coating with one polarity of the power supply being grounded and electrically connected to a part of the core and another polarity of the power supply being electrically connected to a corona charging electrode which transfers the electrical charge to the outer coating of each roller.

  • Patent number: 6285032
Abstract: A device for removing the gaseous laminar boundary layer from at least one of the two sides of a material web moved in transport direction preferably at high speed, for example said web being made of paper, characterized by at least one corona-charging electrode provided with at least one elongate tip, and connectable to a positive (+U) or negative high-voltage source, and characterized by at least one counterelectrode associated with the latter and connectable to a negative (−U) or positive high voltage or ground, with corona-charging electrode on the side of material web having the boundary layer to be removed, and the associated counterelectrode being located on the other side.

  • Patent number: 6159555
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for electrostatic charging of the two outer sides of at least one material web with charges of opposite polarity, prior to the further processing of the at least one material web, with the web being guided through the nip of a pair of rollers that are parallel to one another and are arranged with a short space between them, characterized in that the electrostatic charging of the two outer sides of the at least one material web is performed by the rollers in the nip between them.

  • Patent number: 4835808
Abstract: A probe is employed for removing dust from moving webs, paper webs for example. It has at least one electrostatic high-voltage electrode, at least one blower for gas, preferably air, oriented against the direction that the web travels in, and a vacuum channel for suctioning up the dust-laden gas. The pointed or blade-shaped subsidiary electrodes in the high-voltage electrode (10) lie in a plane that does not parallel the web (7). The direction that the row of round and/or slotted nozzles (12) in the blower (11) blow along lies in another plane downstream of the high-voltage electrode (10). The two planes intersect at a line that lies in the plane of the web (7) and extends across it. The round and/or slotted openings (14) into the vacuum channel (13) are on the other hand positioned upstream of the high-voltage electrode (10) in the web-travel direction (8).
