Patent number: 9449186Abstract: The present invention is directed to systems for and methods of controlling access to computer systems. A method in accordance with the present invention comprises performing a test that includes comparing input responses to randomly selected questions with corresponding pre-determined responses to the questions and granting access to the system in the event the test is passed. A first condition of passing the test is that each input response matches a corresponding pre-determined response. Once passing the test, the user is granted permissions to access data based on his position. For example, a corporate director generally has greater permissions than an engineer. Preferably, the user's permissions determine an encryption key and a decryption key that the user is able to use to access protected data.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2012Date of Patent: September 20, 2016Assignee: ENCRYPTHENTICA LIMITEDInventor: Ernst B. Publication number: 20150372806Abstract: A method of and system for encrypting and decrypting data on a computer system is disclosed. In one embodiment, the system comprises an encrypting operating system (EOS), which is a modified UNIX operating system. The EOS is configured to use a symmetric encryption algorithm and an encryption key to encrypt data transferred from physical memory to secondary devices, such as disks, swap devices, network file systems, network buffers, pseudo file systems, or any other structures external to the physical memory and on which can data can be stored. The EOS further uses the symmetric encryption algorithm and the encryption key to decrypt data transferred from the secondary devices back to physical memory. In other embodiments, the EOS adds an extra layer of security by also encrypting the directory structure used to locate the encrypted data.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 26, 2015Publication date: December 24, 2015Inventors: Ernst B. Carter, Vasily Zolotov

Publication number: 20090158299Abstract: The present invention allocates resources in a multi-operating system computing system, thereby avoiding bottlenecks and other degradations that result from competition for limited resources. In one embodiment, a computer system includes resources and multiple processors executing multiple operating systems that provide access to the resources. The resources include printers, disk controllers, memory, network controllers, and other often-accessed resources. Each operating system contains a kernel scheduler. Together, the multiple kernel schedulers are configured to coordinate allocating the resources to processes executing on the computer system.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 30, 2008Publication date: June 18, 2009Inventor: Ernst B. Publication number: 20030051026Abstract: A system that monitors and protects the security of computer networks uses artificial intelligence, including learning algorithms, neural networks and genetic programming, to learn from security events. The invention maintains a knowledge base of security events that updates autonomously in real time. The invention encrypts communications to exchange changes in its knowledge base with separate security systems protecting other computer networks. The invention autonomously alters its security policies in response to ongoing events. The invention tracks network communication traffic from inception at a well-known port throughout the duration of the communication including monitoring of any port the communication is switched to. The invention is able to track and utilize UNIX processes for monitoring, threat detection, and threat response functions.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 19, 2001Publication date: March 13, 2003Inventors: Ernst B.
