  • Patent number: 4409149
Abstract: This invention relates to a novel process for the preparation of rhodium(I) carbonyltriorganophosphorus mono-.beta.-ketoenolate complexes which comprises reacting a halocarbonylbis(triorganophosphorus) rhodium(I) complex, a .beta.-ketoenolate source and an oxygen transfer agent. The complexes so produced are useful as precursors for catalysts in hydroformylation processes.

  • Patent number: 4283562
Abstract: In a rhodium-catalyzed hydroformylation process which produces aldehydes from olefins, the stability of a rhodium catalyst complexed with carbon monoxide and a phosphine ligand is improved by the use of a ligand selected from a branched chain alkyldiphenylphosphine, a branched chain dialkylphenylphosphine, a cycloalkyldiphenylphosphine and a dicycloalkylphenylphosphine.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 26, 1979

  • Patent number: 4277627
Abstract: A process for the hydroformylation of alpha-olefins employing a rhodium catalyst complexed with carbon monoxide and a triarylphosphine wherein the intrinsic deactivation of the rhodium catalyst which occurs under hydroformylation conditions is inhibited or substantially prevented by determining and correlating the reaction conditions of temperature, carbon monoxide partial pressure and the free triarylphosphine: catalytically-active rhodium metal mole ratio. These conditions can be determined from a mathematical relationship between the combination of these variables and the stability of the rhodium complex catalyst.

    Filed: May 19, 1980
Date of Patent: July 7, 1981
    Assignee: Union Carbide Corporation
