Abstract: In a printing system or method a first printing apparatus and a second printing apparatus are respectively selectively operable in simplex mode and duplex mode. Each of the printing apparatuses in simplex mode process print jobs independently of the respective other printing apparatus, and in duplex mode processing print jobs jointly by both of the printing apparatuses. The printing apparatuses are connected with one another for control at least in duplex mode. An activation operating unit is provided via which at least one of the two printing apparatuses is selectively activated for the simplex mode or both of the printing apparatuses are selectively activated for the duplex mode.

Abstract: In a method or arrangement to select instructions to be executed by a control unit of a printer or copier, the control unit is connected with a plug connector arrangement providing an electrical connection to the control unit via a plurality of individual contact terminals. At least one first instruction stored in a first memory region is executed by the control unit in a first operating mode. At least one second instruction stored in a second memory region is executed by the control unit in a second operating mode. The second operating mode is set by at least one of the contact terminals of the plug connector arrangement, and wherein an evaluable signal level is respectively present at the at least one contact terminal. A memory region from which the at least one first instruction is loaded for execution by the control unit is established with aid of the electrical connection.

Abstract: A sub-assembly for assembled systems has a front plate with two sections, with each section having a standard front height and a standard front width and each section having a disk drive. The assembly also has a common supporting plate extending vertically from the front plate on which the two disk drives are mounted offset with the back surface of each disk drive facing in an opposite direction with the disk drive having the back surface facing the front panel being spaced therefrom to form a space for connecting lines extending from plug connectors on the front panel that extend to the connectors on the back surfaces of each disk drive.

Abstract: An electro-photographic matrix printer such as a laser printer has characters to be printed stored as bits in columns and rows of a bit pattern page memory. The bits are read from the bit pattern page memory in the form of individually addressable blocks of bits, the order of the blocks read from said bit pattern page memory being selected to give a selected degree of rotation to the printed image produced by said printer, with the order of bits within each block being presented to the printer to provide a rotated image within each individually addressable block.
