Abstract: A winding machine has a carriage movable along the support drum or roller for applying adhesive tape strip to the web wound on rolls on opposite sides of the support roller upon application of a pressing roller on the carriage thereagainst, a cutter wheel severing the web into leading and trailing ends and simultaneously cutting the adhesive strip in two to leave strip segments on the leading and trailing ends.

Abstract: An apparatus for subdividing a flexible web into at least two strips and winding same up into individual rolls has a supply roll on which the flexible web is wound, at least one takeup roll on which the web is also wound, and a drive for rotating the takeup roll and thereby pulling the web from the supply roll. The supply roll is braked to tension the web. Between the supply and takeup rolls the web is longitudinally slit into at least two individual strips. A pair of pinch rolls between the slitting means and the takeup roll engage the individual strips without slip a drive or brake rotates the pinch rollers at a speed such that the tension in the web upstream of the pinch rollers is substantially greater than the tension downstream of the pinch rollers.

Abstract: A winding machine having a longitudinal cutting device for sectioning the web of material into individual webs includes two winding stations each provided with a winder bracket movable with respect to the web of material and having a guide head connected to a rotary drive and insertable into the winding core between the longitudinal cutting device and the winding stations a driven cylinder is arranged against which a roller having individual freely run segments, can be pressed for frictionally engaging the individual webs.

Abstract: An apparatus for positioning devices, especially longitudinal rotary cutting blades for slitting a web of material has slides displaceable along respective guides and a belt which has oppositely moving stretches as the belt is moved in a single sense. A coupling, e.g. a double-acting piston, between the belt stretches and the slide can be actuated to press against one or the other stretch or pass of the belt to couple it with the slide. The coupling also has a cylinder-and-piston for clamping the slide against its guide to lock the slide in position when the proper position is reached.

Abstract: A device for winding longitudinally separated webs, especially paper webs, on reel cores that are mounted alternately on one and on the opposite side of a backing roll in such a way as to rotate on displaceable bearing brackets and that are forced against one generating line of the backing roll. The number of cores is equal to the number of webs. The device is equipped with means for removing the finished reels and with knives for separating the web longitudinally and transversely, an automatic core inserter and a device for applying glue in the vicinity of the cut area of the longitudinally separated web. The device also has transverse knives that extend over the total axial length of the backing roll.
