  • Publication number: 20070211928
Abstract: An image processing system extracts parts or characteristics of interest from prepared biological samples One suitable use of the image processing system is to find biomarkers. But many other suitable uses are possible. Some components of the system include image preprocessing (data interpolation, retention time alignment, image noise filtering, background estimation, and formation of a composite image); image feature extraction (peaks, isotope groups, and charge groups); and computation of feature characteristics and expression statistics, differential expression, and non-differential expression. Outputs of the system include a candidate list of parts or characteristic of interest for aiding further discovery.

  • Patent number: 4333297
Abstract: A packaging device comprises three conveyor assemblies, each having a belt mounted on wheels in turn rotatably attached to a carrier disposed within a loop formed by the respective belt. The carriers have apertures for being removably secured by screws to a vertical plate of a supporting frame, while the wheels include respective shafts with couplings for forming a locked driving engagement between drafts upon assemblage of the packaging device, the rotation of one wheel by a power source thus serving to drive all of the belts. A first pair of assemblies transport goods and containers along parallel paths from respective feeders and a third assembly carries reciprocating pushers along a third parallel path for loading the goods into the containers. A carrier is formed from a pair of members slidably interconnected for increasing the distance between peripherally mounted belt-bearing wheels and thereby increasing belt tension.

  • Patent number: 4331436
Abstract: A device for erecting and countercollapsing boxes from preformed blanks comprises a carrier arm pivotally attached to a chain drive and guided by a generally oval track to engage at a feed station the back edge of a blank for pushing the same through a pair of parallel guide slots along a path to an erecting station defined by rotary carrier synchronized with the chain drive for revolving a stopper to have, upon the emergence of the blank from the guide slots, a distance from the slots' exit substantially equal to the width of the blank and an orientation parallel to front and back edges of the blank. The stopper catches at the slots' exit the front blank edge and continues to revolve with tangential speed less than the speed of the arm, whereby relative motion of the stopper and the arm gives rise to a compressive force which opens and countercollapses a box from the blank.
