  • Publication number: 20040237665
Abstract: The invention relates to a measuring method in particular for the strip tension and the line force of a strip conveyor system, in which the strip is guided so as to wrap partially around a corotating measuring roller, which has at least one pressure sensor for measuring a pressure acting on a surface section of the measuring roller, and guided through a gap formed between the measuring roller and a backing roller. The pressure acting on a surface section of the measuring roller is measured by means of the pressure sensor at least at two rotational positions of the measuring roller. The rotational angle of the measuring roller is measured relative to a reference position. The invention is based on the basic idea of measuring the variation of a pressure acting on a surface section of the measuring roller over at least part of the rotation of the measuring roller.

  • Publication number: 20040206181
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for non-destructive testing of materials, in which at least two differently guided waves (modes) are produced in the solid body, each at at least one specified angle, the measured reflection values are placed in relation to a reference echo in order to obtain a relative reflection value, and the relative reflection values of the individual modes are again placed in relation to one another, thereby enabling the size and type of the defects to be determined.

  • Patent number: 6637270
Abstract: The invention relates to a transmitting system for the generation of ultrasonic waves for testing materials, comprising a controllable signal generator and an ultrasonic transducer, wherein the signal generator and the ultrasonic transducer are arranged in the immediate vicinity of one another, in order to provide a transmitting system for ultrasonic testing which has higher effectiveness and lower manufacturing costs than known transmitting systems.

  • Patent number: 5828146
Abstract: Apparatus for the bidirectional transfer of information comprises in each case: at least one rotating component (1); a further component (2); receivers (4, 5) on the respective components (1, 2), said receivers facing one another in groups on the axis of rotation (6) of the rotating component (1); and transmitters (7, 8) fitted on the components (1, 2) eccentrically with regard to the axis of rotation and directed towards the corresponding receivers (4, 5).

  • Patent number: 4828457
Abstract: A casing which admits the fluid medium into the range of the impeller or first impeller in a fluid flow machine, particularly in a centrifugal pump, is made of several sections which have abutting surfaces. At least one such surface has a recess forming part of a fluid flow passage, and the recess is machined into the respective surface by a material removing tool. This simplifies the making of the casing and enables the latter to optimally conform to the conditions of flow between the supply conduit and the impeller or first impeller of the machine to thus reduce noise and stray movements and enhance the efficiency of the machine.

  • Patent number: 4593567
Abstract: There is disclosed an electromagnetic transducer for the transmission and ception of ultrasonic waves in the touchless testing of metal workpieces, particularly made of steel, in the shape of sheet and strip material. The transducer is arranged for continuous testing, particularly as applied to continuously advancing material, by wavelength spectroscopy and particularly modal spectroscopy of received ultrasonic waves. To this end, the transducer comprises a pair of transducer segments each of which has a set of mutually parallel conductor tracks formed on a substantially planar printed circuit board in which the frequencies and wavelengths for each segment can be preset in a matrix logic circuit having a short time sequence. The conductor tracks comprise windings arranged to be connected for operation through a set of switching elements in such a manner as to produce in various switching states of the switching elements a plurality of wavelengths for each frequency.
