Abstract: An axial bearing, for a spooling roller on a spooling machine, with a shaft fixed to a machine frame, or to a machine chassis, a fixed rear cover disc, a hub freely rotating about the shaft and a flange, arranged on the free front face of the shaft with a front cover disc. At least one stud chamfers in the radial direction, away from the shaft in the region of the flange, engaging in but without projecting beyond a guide slot of a bayonet sleeve, detachably connected to the flange. The open guide slot, on the front face, rises up to an arched peak, turns away from the front face of the bayonet sleeve at a separation and runs toward the front face with a blind terminus. A pressure spring, tensioned on the shaft, is arranged between a shaft mounting and the hub, which presses the roller core with the spooling roller, over the hub, in the axial direction on the flange and forms therewith a rapid closure with the centered spooling roller.

  • Patent number: 4832740
Abstract: A process for removing alkali and alkaline earth metals from aluminum melts is such that aluminum fluoride powder is fed continuously to a carrier gas in an amount of 1-10 g/min. and the gas/powder mixture introduced continuously via lances into the melt which is maintained at a temperature between 690.degree. and 780.degree.C.The process is characterized by a low consumption of aluminum fluoride per ton of melt to be treated and is particularly suitable for removing sodium and lithium from aluminum-magnesium alloy melts.

  • Patent number: 4565239
Abstract: An apparatus for screening a stream of molten metal has a bellows. An annular distribution chamber for protective gas to be blown into an area traversed by the stream of molten metal is provided inside the bellows. That annular chamber is inwardly delimited by a flexible screening shroud of heat-resistant, gas-permeable material encompassing the area traversed by the stream of molten metal and being inwardly spaced from the bellows. Corresponding ends of the bellows and shroud are gas-tightly interconnected. The screening shroud surrounding the pouring stream at a distance protects the bellows from metal splashes and screen it also from heat that is radiating from the pouring stream.

  • Patent number: 4480771
Abstract: A rotary nozzle system for metallurgical vessels, especially steel ladles, whose stationary closure portion or part contains a refractory bottom plate and whose rotatable closure portion or part contains a rotatable toothed rim mounted at the stationary closure portion and a refractory slide plate which bears against the bottom plate. There is solved the problem of enabling a rapid, uncomplicated exchange, especially of the bottom plate and the slide plate with the particular task of automatically reestablishing each time a condition which ensures for operational reliability of the rotary nozzle system. This is obtained by constructing the rotatable closure portion or part as a housing having a rigid cover member which is detachably connected at the rotatable toothed rim. Internally of the housing there is located a pressure plate which receives the slide plate.
