  • Patent number: 4817879
Abstract: A spooling machine for the simultaneous spooling of at least two threads on an equal quantity of winding places, which are arranged so as to be adjacent to one another in a row, is equipped with a belt-type traversing device. The traversing is effected by means of carriers (28a-28d) which are moved in opposite directions and which fit on a revolving toothed belt (20) so as to be uniformly spaced (y), and alternately grasp the threads (8a-8d). The reversing points of the traversing areas of the individual winding places are marked by means of deflectors (47a-47d; 51a-51d). The effective spacing (z) between two corresponding deflectors (47a-51a; 47b-51b; 47c-51c; 47d-51d), which effective spacing (z) determines the traversing stroke is smaller than the center distance (x) between two traversing areas. This is exactly half as large as the spacing (y) between two adjacent carriers (28a-28d).

  • Patent number: 4784342
Abstract: A device for spooling multiple threads includes a plurality of spools situated on a spool mandrel having pirns with spreading thread guides which are displaceable on the end of the spool mandrel parallel thereto to the spreading position which corresponds to the position of the tuck slots of individual pirns. A pivotable spreading flap is provided in the device, which has guide slots for exact positioning of the threads relative to the tuck slots of individual pirns.

  • Patent number: 4756063
Abstract: Crimping of cables of synthetic fiber is performed by an arrangement in which a cable is supplied by rotatable compression rolls with a high speed into a compression chamber, and a cooling air is supplied into the compression chamber, wherein water is added to the cooling air in form of fine droplets.

  • Patent number: 4723721
Abstract: A winding machine, comprises a machine frame, a winding mandrel which is connected with the machine frame during winding, traversing device including two belt runs movable near one another in opposite directions and provided with drivers, diverters each arranged at a respective one of reversing points of the traversing device and displaceable parallel to a winding axis, a sensing element abutting against a surface of a coil which is being wound, and a transmitting device which couples the diverters with the sensing element, the transmitting device including at least one displacing rod which connects the diverters with one another and extends parallel to the winding axis, a guiding rail with which the displacing rod is in engagement, the guiding rail and the traversing device being formed so that they are displaceable in correspondence with movement of the sensing element relative to one another at a right angle relative to the winding axis.

  • Patent number: 4669676
Abstract: A device for depositing synthetic cables into individual containers comprises a tubular cable feeder feeding a cable into a non-rotating receiver which accommodates four cable-transporting organs which transport cable spirals in an axial direction. The cable transporting organs are each coupled to a main shaft of the device by a belt, a vertical drive shaft carrying a worm meshed with a worm gear supported on a horizontal shaft which carries a disc cooperating with a pressure roller for feeding a cable therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4597142
Abstract: An apparatus for crimping cables formed of synthetic filaments during a continuous spinning-stretching process includes two pressing rolls which form a crimping chamber into which a cable to be crimped by the rolls is inserted. One of the rolls is displaced from an operative position to a readiness position at a full apparatus speed. Upon displacement of the pressing roll into the ready-to-operate position, a gap between the rolls becomes wider and the crimping chamber opens longitudinally so that a passage is formed, which allows the cable to be inserted into the chamber from the front side thereof by means of a suction injector.

  • Patent number: 4343069
Abstract: A machine for cutting a travelling tow of synthetic plastic filaments to produce staple fibers has a blade carrier from which cutting blades project and have their free ends secured to a concentric surrounding ring. The facing annular surfaces of ring and carrier are shaped to resemble portions of a hollow and of a solid sphere, respectively, and together define an annular cutting channel. A tow pressing ring is arranged skew to the axis of this channel, so that it enters into the channel at one side but is spaced from and defines with the inlet to the channel a gap at the opposite side. One or the other of the carrier and ring is positively rotated. When tow is fed through the gap into the channel it forms on the carrier one or more convolutions which are progressively pressed deeper into the channel by the pressing ring until they reach and are cut by the cutting blades.

  • Patent number: 4169397
Abstract: A method of processing a fibrous cable fed at a high speed comprises the steps of braking the cable by coiling it on a stationary cylinder and simultaneously discharging at a low speed the lower cable windings by exerting downward pressure on the upper windings. The discharged windings can be deposited into containers or cut into staple fibers by pressing the discharged windings against stationary knives. A device for carrying out the method comprises an upright rotatable shaft having a hollow upper part for receiving the cable, a downwardly projecting guiding member attached to and communicating with the hollow upper part, a stationary cylinder surrounding the lower portion of the shaft and having in its cylindrical wall a plurality of vertical slits, a wobble plate disposed within the cylinder and having a plurality of fingers projecting through the vertical slits in the cylindrical wall.

  • Patent number: 3948127
Abstract: Apparatus for severing a tow of crimped textile fibers has an outer cage and an inner cage. The inner cage has an annulus of idler rollers extending in parallelism with the common axis of the cages, and the outer cage has an annulus of elongated knives whose cutting edges spacedly surround and face the rollers. A tow of textile fibers is fed axially into the inner cage and is guided radially outwardly by an eyelet in the inner cage to enter a ring-shaped compartment between the knives and the rollers. A motor drives the inner cage or the outer cage to thereby convolute the tow in the compartment whereby the driven cage adds convolutions in the region immediately adjacent to the rollers and such convolutions cause the outer convolutions to expand toward and to be severed by the cutting edges. The severed fibers are withdrawn by a suction chamber which surrounds the outer cage.
