  • Patent number: 11908590
Abstract: A shielding apparatus for a radioisotope production system is provided. The shielding apparatus is capable of being retro-fitted to the housing of preinstalled radioisotope production systems. The shielding apparatus comprises a plurality of shield layers removably stacked on top of a base that is mounted to the top of the housing via spacers defining space or air gap between the base and housing. The shield layers and base are positioned above and extending between the interface between moveable shields and a moveable base of the radioisotope production system, such that the shielding apparatus is positioned within the trajectory of a radioisotope production system beam.

  • Patent number: 11749420
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods for efficiently preparing and containing a small volume of liquid target material for irradiation by a cyclotron are provided. In various embodiments, a device includes a housing having a chamber and the housing has a top surface that is substantially flat. The chamber has a substantially flat base and a wall having a first portion extending from the base with a first radius of curvature and a second portion extending from the first portion having a second radius of curvature that is less than the first radius. The chamber also includes an inlet aperture, an outlet aperture, and a lip having a second surface that is substantially flat and recessed from the first surface. In various embodiments, the device includes a heat sink including a plurality of parallel fins disposed around the chamber.

  • Patent number: 11310902
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a self-contained system that contains a plurality of target cartridges, automatically inserts a selected target cartridge into position for irradiation, advances a foil to facilitate irradiation over the target chamber, replaces the foil for additional irradiation (if desired), serves as a dissolution cell for retrieval of the irradiated material, removes the used target cartridge and inserts a new cartridge for subsequent cycles of operation. Consequently, only the dissolved target material and dissolution medium are transferred between the target system and any post processing cells/labs. Accordingly, a system is disclosed for processing a target material without disturbance to irradiated material (thereby eliminating risk of impurities) and without requiring manual access/intervention (thereby eliminating risk of exposure).

  • Publication number: 20220034244
Abstract: A cyclotron sound suppression device for reducing the decibel level of the supersonic exhaust gases. A cyclotron unit for preparing a radioisotope includes a storage tank for storing a radioactive gas resulting from preparation of the radioisotope, a compressor connected with the storage tank(s); an exhaust valve in connected with the storage tank(s); and a sound suppression device in connected with the exhaust valve. The sound suppression device can be configured as a supersonic muffler and attached to the outlet valve to diffuse the exhaust gases, thereby reducing risk of hearing damage.

  • Publication number: 20220005623
Abstract: A shield for a cyclotron housing, capable of being retro-fitted to preinstalled cyclotron housings, which have a base and door configured for relative movement between open and closed configurations is provided. The shield comprises plurality of shielding layers removably stacked on top of a pedestal that is mounted to the top of the housing via spacers defining space or air gap between the pedestal and housing. The shield is positioned above and extending between the gap between housing door and base, such that the shield is positioned within the trajectory of the cyclotron beam.
