  • Publication number: 20060228081
Abstract: The invention relates to in particular to a device for optically regenerating pulses, the device comprising an optical bandpass filter adapted for providing time synchronization and intensity stabilization of dispersion-managed soliton pulses. The device further comprises noise suppression means distinct from the bandpass filter.

  • Publication number: 20060221425
Abstract: This device for optically regenerating pulses comprises time synchronization means (14) and intensity fluctuation stabilization means (14) for the pulses. In addition, it comprises noise suppression means (16) that are distinct from the synchronization means (14) and the stabilization means (14).

  • Publication number: 20050226623
Abstract: A device and a method for converting WDM signals into an OTDM signal. A time shift is introduced between the pulses of the WDM signals carried by the optical carriers. A modulation means is (112, 113, 114) adapted to modify the optical power of the WDM signals, and an optical temporal multiplexer/demultiplexer (120) is provided. The WDM signals are injected into a birefringent propagation medium (130) in such a manner as to achieve a soliton trapping phenomenon. An absorption means (140) is adapted to introduce optical losses into the components of the OTDM signal. This technique performs WDM/OTDM conversion at very high bit rates. It also performs OTDM/WDM conversion. It is intended to be installed in long-haul telecommunication networks.

  • Publication number: 20050158060
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for regenerating the phase of an optical signal carrying an information encoded by phase modulation of said signal, the device comprising an optical modulation converter for converting the signal carrying the information encoded by phase modulation into at least one secondary signal carrying said information encoded by amplitude modulation, and at least one module for optically regenerating the amplitude of the secondary signal.

  • Patent number: 6807378
Abstract: A regenerator for an RZ optical signal transmission system applies a relative time shift to the signals as a function of their intensity and includes an intensity modulator for modulating the shifted signals. The shift between signals corresponding to a “zero” value and signals corresponding to a “one” value is such that the modulation intensity for signals corresponding to a “zero” value is less than the modulation intensity for signals corresponding to a “one” value. A shift equal to half the bit time between signals corresponding to a “one” value and signals corresponding to a “zero” value can therefore be chosen. The modulation intensity is then maximum for signals corresponding to a “one” value and minimum for signals corresponding to a “zero” value. The regenerator limits noise in the “zeros” of an RZ signal and regenerates the “ones”.

  • Publication number: 20040156636
Abstract: The invention provides a time-division demultiplexer apparatus for an optical signal, the apparatus comprising a first coupler (3) which splits the optical signal for demultiplexing into two signals propagating in two different branches (4, 5) of the apparatus, and a second coupler (6) which reunites the signals from the two branches (4, 5), the apparatus being characterized in that one of the branches (5) includes processor means (51-55) for producing a signal at the inlet of the second coupler (6) in the form of light pulses having a repetition rate that is a function of the signal that is to be obtained at the output from the apparatus, said pulses being slightly early relative to the signal which is to be demultiplexed; and in that the intensity of the light pulses is suitable for saturating an absorber medium (7) extending after the second coupler.

  • Publication number: 20030063344
Abstract: The invention provides an optical device for demultiplexing at least two RZ optical signals, each having a distinct non-zero intensity, said signals belonging to a given transmission channel having a given carrier frequency, and the device comprising:

  • Patent number: 6456759
Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus for limiting noise in the “zeros” of optical RZ signals, the apparatus comprising a birefringent fiber for mutually spectrally offsetting the signals as a function of their intensity, and a filter for filtering the offset signals. The filter attenuates the pulses that correspond to “zeros”, but passes the pulses that correspond to “ones”. The invention makes it possible to limit the noise in the “zeros” of an RZ signal.
