  • Publication number: 20200215576
Abstract: A technology for material separation is provided. The technology enables an output of a first material from a rotary lifter. The technology enables a direction of a fluid stream onto the first material in flight based on the output of the first material such that the first material is separated into at least a second material and a third material. The technology enables a conveyance of the second material away from the rotary lifter. The technology enables a removal of the third material via a vacuum port.

  • Publication number: 20070069043
Abstract: A fuel or liquid injector includes a needle valve and a piezoelectric actuator that bears a hydraulic acceleration piston on its distal end. The actuator expands moving the piston toward the needle valve. The needle valve has a ball end, restrained against the valve seat by a spring, sealing the valve until the spring force is overcome by mechanical and hydraulic forces on the piston. When closed, the piston rests against the needle valve. Expansion of the piezoelectric actuator mechanically actuates the piston, and then increases the hydraulic pressure, which closes the fuel check valve, and accelerates the forward movement of the piston attached to the needle valve. When the restraining force on the needle valve is overcome, the ball end of the needle valve is unseated, and compressed fluid in the lower hydraulic chamber is released in a high velocity spray.

  • Patent number: 4700869
Abstract: A single item vending machine, particularly for vending only a single newspaper for each vend operation, is disclosed. The machine has a slot, which is adjustable in height, in the front of the frame of the machine through which the newspaper is vended. A door on the front of the machine prevents access to the slot unless the door is opened. The door cannot be opened unless the required coins are placed in a coin mechanism, thus releasing a door lock. Mounted inside the machine is a base plate. Mounted on top of the base plate are ball bearings. Resting on the ball bearings is a transfer plate which has a raised rear portion which is approximately 1/2 inch higher than a lower front portion of the transfer plate. When the machine is in the closed and locked position, the newspapers are stacked on the lower front portion of the transfer plate. The transfer plate, which is connected to the door by at least one hinge and lever arm, slides forward when the door is opened by the purchaser.
