  • Patent number: 4904352
Abstract: A process for the electrodeposition of a multilayered coating on an article formed of titanium or titanium alloy comprises the steps of: (i) cleaning the article by conventional means, such as by descaling, dry blasing, soaking, and rinsing, so as to remove oxides and other surface contaminants therefrom and expose the article's titanium substrate; (ii) immmersing the clean article in an agitated acid bath at room temperature to activate the surface thereof; (iii) immersing the thus activated article in an agitated aqueous nickel bath preferably comprising nickel chloride at room temperature and cathodically applying a relatively thin non-porous nickel base coat directly on the exposed titanium substrate to improve subsequent zinc adhesion thereto; and (iv) immersing the nickel-plated article in an agitated aqueous zinc bath preferably comprising zinc oxide, sodium cyanide, sodium hydroxide and sodium carbonate and electrodepositing a zinc layer of desired thickness over the nickel base coat.

  • Patent number: 4594039
Abstract: A fastener comprising a nut with V-threads modified to have a wedge ramp between adjacent flanks at the root thereof and characterized by the uniform pitch of the nut thread being a predetermined amount greater than the uniform pitch of the bolt thread which, in combination with the wedge ramp, results in optimum stress distribution within the bolt as well as a prevailing torque and anti-vibration relationship between the nut and bolt.

    Assignee: Microdot Inc.
    Inventor: Erwin C. Witte
  • Patent number: 4381163
Abstract: A prevailing torque type self-locking nut has an internal aperture provided with wedge ramp type threads, the aperture being tapered in cross section adjacent the top of the nut.

  • Patent number: 4176582
Abstract: A torque limiting nut assembly having a threaded nut member and a spring wrench member which are interconnected by a ratchet like construction in which the magnitude of final assembly torque is predetermined by the torque required to initiate ratcheting of the ratchet like construction and with the ratchet like construction defining a non ratcheting, positive engagement construction for disassembly torque whereby the threaded nut member can be removed.

  • Patent number: 3933074
Abstract: The threads at the entrance end of a nut are interrupted by a plurality of circumferentially spaced axially extending flutes to form relatively flexible load distributing threads. The flutes extend axially across a limited number of threads and extend radially into the threads a distance short of the root of the thread. After engagement with a complimentary bolt, and upon the occurrence of a load on the connection, the interrupted threads flex axially of the nut to cushion shock on the bolt threads and shift the zone of maximum stress transfer axially inwardly of the nut, thereby materially extending fatigue life of the connection.
